Biography[edit | edit source]

Early Life[edit | edit source]

Anna was born in the West Midlands, England. She lived in her family home with the mother and her father, both business individuals, and her brother Calvin Jones, who later signed a record contract on the same label, Strawberry Records.

As a young girl, Jones had always expressed interest in singing and performing. She performed at several charity events as a teenager and won a few talent competitions. However, when she started her GCSE exams she decided to focus on a business future and she got top qualifications for business. She moved to London and complete a four year course on music management.

Early Career[edit | edit source]

After completing her time at university she landed herself a job at Fascination Records where she managed the management side to the company. She won numerous awards while working under the company and was often poached by various other companies for her management skills. She was later approached by an investor to set up her own record company. Strawberry Records was officially launched in 2010. After a successful start to her business career, she decided she wanted to take on music as well however after her success with music the record label soon closed down afterwards due to lack of management.

After Jones' decision to turn to music as-well as business, she signed onto her own record label for financial support. Throughout the final stages of 2010, she wrote and recorded her debut album. She also worked with a wide variety of producers including Red One, Xenomania, Stargate and Wayne Wilkins. She even produced a couple tracks by herself.

In early January 2011, a press release issued from Strawberry read that Jones would release her debut single, Wait A Minute on the 21st February 2011. Throughout the following weeks, Jones did extensive promo for the single and the single charted at No.8 which was a success for the label. Shortly after the release, it was announced Anna would be releasing her favorite track off the album as second single. DJ was released on 11th April 2011 and went a huge marketing campaign which included billboards and televised advertisements. The single charted at No. 6 and sold considerably better than the previous effort. Her debut album Through The Shadows was released on April 11th and charted at No. 3, which was a commercial success for Jones.

In July 2011, she supported Taylor during the European leg of his world tour. She was greatly recieved by the international market. She later announced the release of her third single, Turn Your Head which was released through On Air, On Sale on July 25th. She did little promotion as she was preparing for her upcoming tour, The Out Tonight Tour, but the single charted at No.10 and sold over 200,000 which was more than her previous effort.

On 11th February it was announced that the fourth and final single to be lifted from the album would be Candy Shop set to be released on March 25th. Anna didn't undertake as much promotion as she was completing the second leg of her Pleasure Island tour where she visited theatres to perform a more cut down version of the album's tracks. The final single charted at number two. Speaking of the future Anna stated, "There will be no studio album in 2013 but expect one early 2014 with the lead single dropping this November".

2013/2014: Third Studio Album[edit | edit source]

Shortly after her break to work on her third studio album, it was revealed that Anna had been recording a single which would be released in 2013, going against her plans to launch her next album completely in 2014. In July 2013, "Anything Go Boom" was announced as the lead single from the third studio album. It was scheduled in for released on September 9th and was sent out to radios the day it was announced. There was particular confusion to do with Anna's plans and she therefore confirmed in an interview that she wanted to release a single or two before launching the album to give fans a better taste of the album.
