"Jägerbomb" is a single by American pop artist Bella-May, released as the second single from her third album Ready or Not. The track was written by Bella and produced by David Guetta.

The single charted at #1 on August 11th, becoming Bella's 4th #1 single, and has sold 504,782 copies since it's release, making it Bella's best selling single so far. The track was also the ninth best-selling single of 2013. Jägerbomb was also Bella's first single to chart at #1 in the United States.

Background[edit | edit source]

Bella was sent back to the drawing board after the release of "Ain't Got Shit" in search of a "sure-fire summer hit". Bella approached Guetta on collaborating for a track as she claims that he was "always someone I've wanted to work with". The pair spent two weeks writing, recording and producing the track and Fusion immediately decided to release it as the second single from Ready or Not.

Promotion[edit | edit source]

Bella performed the track on This Morning and at her Bella Goes G.A.Y! gig, held in London's G.A.Y nightclub. She also performed at T in the Park on July 12th 2013 and "Jägerbomb" was included in the 5-track set list.
In early July 2013, Bella announced plans to play some summer festivals across Europe to promote the single.

Critical Reception[edit | edit source]

Upon it's premiere, "Jägerbomb" received mostly positive reviews. Digital Spy were the first to review the track, which they called "the summer song of 2013" and claimed it was "one of Bella's finest singles to date". Eloise Clarke from SPKTRM called the track "an ideal summer single and the perfect choice to lead the album". She gave the track 5 stars. Popjustice's review for the song was extremely positive. They said the track sounded like a "ten-weeks-at-number-one track" and predicted that it would propel Bella into worldwide stardom.
NME were not so positive in their review, stating that "Jägerbomb" was "simply a faceless, generic club track just like anything else out their". They expressed their disappointment in Bella "not being able to do at least something different with what could be a good track".

Music Video[edit | edit source]

The music video, directed by Paul Hunter, was shot in June 2013 in Gran Canaria and premiered on July 7th 2013.

Stills from the video

The music video for 'Jägerbomb' begins with Bella and some friends relaxing at the beach. They are shown to be tanning and sometimes swimming in the ocean. As the song progresses, a beach party begins. Bella is shown turning up the volume of a boombox, which has a "Jägerbomb" CD single on the ground beside it.
After the first chorus, Bella and her friends (guest appearances by Ruby and Savana) head into town where they shop for clothes, have lunch together and later enter a salon for make-overs. While in the salon, Bella receives a text message from a male friend called Luke. The text says: "Party @ mine 2nite. Bring sum pals? x". Bella smirks and is shown to reply to the message.
As the middle 8 begins, Bella and her ladies pull up to a house. Bella is greeted by a rather handsome male (presumably Luke) who brings them around to the back of the house where a pool party is taking place. Bella and co consume lots of alcohol (including, of course, jägerbombs). The video ends with a close-up of Bella, laughing at the camera. She is obviously drunk and seems to have whiskers drawn on her face by a marker. The screen quickly goes black as someone can be heard vomiting.
