Monaco Starla Abigail Cadbury (born March 1, 1990), better known by her stage name Monaco is a Monégasque pop-rock singer and songwriter. Raised by wealthy parents, Monaco rebelled against her upbringing and rose to prominence in 2010 when she was set to appear in Uravision. After the competition was cancelled Monaco began to produce her album and create her own record label and publishing company.
She released a buzz single Move Over in 2010, which reached the top 10 in numerous countries throughout Europe including the UK. In 2011 her second single Til The End was released. She has cited artists such as Courtney Love, Freddy Mercury, Ozzy Osbourne and Debbie Harry as influences on her musical output.

1990-2009[edit | edit source]

Born in the Principality of Monaco in 1990, Monaco spent much of her childhood between homes in Monaco, LA, the UK and a boarding school in France, due to her multi-national upbringing she is fluent in three languages. She began to pursue a music career in her late teens when she rebelled against her parents, dropping out of school and leaving home to move to London.

2010-2011: Black and Blue[edit | edit source]

In 2010 Monaco met Moodring's L'mondrea Brown at a party, L'mondrea wrote a song for Monaco which would go on to be used as her Uravision song, despite her application being succesful Uravision was cancelled- it was around this time Monaco took on her stage name, which she would later criticise.
After setting up her own label, Monaco released the buzz single Move Over which went on to chart inside the top 10 upon release, later that year she was confirmed to be supporting Taylor and Alesha on their tours. In 2011 she released her second single Til The End, during promotion of the single she was kidnapped by Saudi Arabian terrorists alongside her boyfriend Ranger. Alongside Kenya and Kazimiera she performed a medley of 'Til The End' with Vodka Bomb and An International Party at the Uraps Awards. Til The End charted at #3.
In July 2011 Monaco released her third single What I Want and her album Black and Blue, the album charted at #2 behind Dante's Casanova Supernova, while the single charted at #7.

Personal Life[edit | edit source]

Monaco began dating Ranger of the RITALIN RATS in 2011, shortly after their relationship began the pair were kidnapped and only Monaco's ransom was paid, leading Monaco to have s widely publicised breakdown. Ranger would eventually be freed. In June 2011, Monaco announced she and Ranger had split.
