Venom is a girl group formed in late 2005. The multi-management project is responsible for launching the careers of London, Lianna, and Lola Elle. In 2007, the group resurfaced with two new members, Cat and Cara, and searched for a third member via The Venom Show. The winner was London's sister Cindy Star.

The 2007 Venom lineup went on to secure the group's first number-one with their single 'New York Dolls'.

2005–2007: Original lineup[edit | edit source]

Venom resulted as a collaboration between three music moguls, Danielle, Lauren, and John, who together recruited group members London, Lianna, and Lola and handled their promotional duties.

In their beginning stages, some doubted the group would achieve any success due to the previous failures of multi-management projects, particularly Battle of the Bands creations Background Melodies and Nightfall. Their debut single, "Boys Will Be Boys", reflected those doubts and entered at a dismal #18 position on the singles charts before climbing to #11 in the following week.

However the second single "Take A Seat" exceeded expectations when it entered the charts at #2 in March 2006, resulting in the group's album Mascara, Sex, & Lies debuting in the top 3 of the album charts. This was quickly followed by the third single "A Place In Hell For Me And My Friends", which debuted at #3. Fourth single "Toxic Love" was originally penciled in for a summer 2006 release but didn't come out until mid-October, entering at #7 upon its release.

Solo careers[edit | edit source]

Immediately after promo for "Toxic Love" ended, Lianna confirmed the release of her first solo single, "Individuality". The single was very well-received upon its premiere in late October 2006 and reached #1 on the singles charts in mid-December. Though Lianna continued to release singles up to August 2007, by that time she had become better known for her relationship with Jack Stevens. A later attempt to return to the music industry was short-lived.

Around the same time that Lianna's first single was released, Russ Hooch confirmed he was working on launching London's solo career, writing and producing many tracks for her debut album The Disco. London's debut single "Spun! (On The Scene)" followed Lianna's lead and entered the charts at #1. Lianna collaborated with London on the follow-up "Miss Celebrity", which also hit #1. London's third single was originally intended to be a duet with Shell Ruin, who was later dropped for failing to promote. When the single "flopped", becoming London's first to miss number one, and her marriage with Dillon Burns failed, London suffered a major meltdown. She later released two #1 singles in 2008, including "Showmance", a duet with Jack Stevens. She retired in August 2008 with the release of "LDN's Greatest Hit".

Lola announced her debut solo single "WINK WINK! (Nudge Nudge!)" in late February 2007. She was hesitant to follow London and Lianna's successful #1 hits at first before desiring to reveal some new songs she had written. "WINK WINK!" was released in late April 2007, and although it was widely predicted to reach #1 it instead entered the charts at #6. The single climbed to #2 the following week, beaten to the post by Christine Tyler, a major supporter of Lola's single; however her debut album Hierarchy entered the album charts at #1. Lola was due to release the follow-up "Freudian Slip" over the summer but the release was canceled.

2008–present: New lineup[edit | edit source]

In 2008, London's management sold the rights to the group, ending the original incarnation of Venom. The group resurfaced in May 2008, with two new members on board and plans to find a third. Two of the members, Cat and Cara, recorded the first new release under the new lineup, "Here's A Quarter! (Call Someone Who Cares!)", which was rush-released June 16. Venom found its third member on the talent competition The Venom Show, where London's sister Cindy Star won. Cindy had already achieved a solo number one. "Here's A Quarter!" was released quickly after the competition ended, peaking at #2.

Venom's new single "New York Dolls" and their second album The E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies) are in stores soon.
