"A Dangerous Liaison" is a song written by Moodring. It was released as the band's second single on 8 Febuary 2010 and peaked at #9. It was the first single to feature L'mondrea Brown. The R&B song tells the tale of a cheating lover, the women involved finding out about eachother and how they react to the situation.
Background[edit | edit source]
"A Dangerous Liaison" was written by Bre Washington, Cassie Garcia and Mia Rose in February 2009 and was originally slated for a Summer release. However due to a combination of Bre Washington's pregnancy and Mia Rose leaving the band, the single was pushed back until February 2010, by this time new member L'mondrea Brown had settled in. The song was one of the first songs that the original lineup of Moodring wrote together and was chosen to be the debut single proper even before Alive was released. The song's sound has been compared to Before The Goodbye by Britney Spears but with more of an R&B edge. The song is a simple revenge song, where a cheating lover is exposed.
Release and reception[edit | edit source]
Moodring announced the single on 8 January 2010, gaining it's first radio airplay on 18 January. The song gained positive reviews from both critics and established artists although the revealed artwork was criticised, so was reprinted to give the band a sharper, cleaner image. It also bore Moodring's new official logo.
Music video[edit | edit source]
The world premiere of the music video for "A Dangerous Liaison" was on 23 January 2010. The band were criticised for leaving it until two weeks before the single release but the band funded the whole project themselves. The video was directed by Cassie Garcia's brother Alejandro who also starred as the male antagonist. Just Ginger also had a role as one of the "Girlfriends" in the video. The general storyline of the video follows the three members of Moodring spotting their lover with eachother and teaming up with Just Ginger in a successful plot to expose him. Sadly the video did not receive much attention and was hardly requested on music video channels despite rave reviews of the single.
