Marvel's Agent Hand, or simply Agent Hand is an American television series created for Netflix by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, based on the character of Victoria Hand as she begins her training with the Marvel Comics organization S.H.I.E.L.D. (Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division), a fictional peacekeeping and spy agency in a world populated with superheroes and numerous supernatural phenomena.

The show takes place in the year 1994 and begins one year after Hand was recruited by S.H.I.E.L.D. The character of Victoria Hand was first seen on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., also created by the Whedon brothers and Tancharoen. In Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Hand met her demise after being shot three times by agent Grant Ward, an undercover HYDRA agent pretending to work for S.H.I.E.L.D.

Agent Hand is a once-off or "one shot" series, consisting of only one season with eight episodes. It is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), sharing continuity with the films in that franchise and it's sister series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

The series premiered all eight episodes exclusively on Netflix on April 20th 2015.

Premise[edit | edit source]

The series sees a 20-year-old Victoria Hand being trained as a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent by Connor Keating (Shemar Moore), a Level 8 agent who oversees many of the division's field operations. Other team members include Derek Whitman (Shiloh Fernandez), a black-ops specialist, Jiaying (Dichen Lachman), an Inhuman posing as an agent named Charlie Walker who specializes in life-sciences and Danielle LeMarchal (Lizzie Brocheré), a computer hacker and weapons expert.

The series is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, sharing continuity with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Carter and the successful MCU movie franchise. The series shares a similar "S.H.I.E.L.D VS. The Inhumans" story-line the second half of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2 had.
