Andrea Twain (born 1978) is an American country singer-songwriter. She's perhaps most well-known for the beginning of her career and her record-breaking #1 streak.
History[edit | edit source]
Andrea Jane Twain was born in a small town of 10 families by the name of Bucketville, Tennessee to a single mother named Momma. She attented Goatherding School in nearby rival Banjotown but dropped out aged 13 to pursue a singing career.
Andrea started playing Banjo at the tender age of 1 year when she found the instrument in her neighbour's shed, and the guitar aged 5. Her first song was called "Momma, Why Are 'Em Sheep Naked In The Summer?", which appears on her self-titled EP released independantly when she was 16.
While she was working as a waitress in a local pancake house, Andrea was discovered a scout of famous record company New Country Music in Nashville, signing her and releasing her Andrea Twain EP in 1994. The record flopped, not even making a dent in the local country industry, and Andrea was dropped.
Not one to give up, Andrea kept writing songs and performing in nightclubs until she was once more discovered in 2002, at the age of 25 and released her debut full album Me & My Geetar.
Her first single was a cover of the Shania Twain single - When, a single that started a streak of #1 hits on the UK and US Country charts. It was that time that Andrea started climbing the popularity ladder of success and fame.
When she released her acclaimed second album, I'm Still Strummin' in 2003 it was clear that Andrea was here to stay. The album was followed with Goat Chattin' and Squaredance.
However, at the peak of her career Andrea Twain vanished off the airwaves and the music business sparking rumours even to her death. It's recently been rumoured that Andrea is working on a yet-untitled 5th studio album to be released later this year so we might not have heard the last of Andrea Twain.
Personal Life[edit | edit source]
Early in her career, it was discovered that Shania Twain was in fact Andrea's aunt, a discovery that sent Andrea into turmoil.
Andrea's lovelife was hid well throughout her career, but it was reported that she married country singer Travis Brooks in 2006.
