Apathetic is a record label created by record executive Ian Maxwell in Summer 2019. The label was an offshoot of Monowindow Music, a record distribution company known primarily for supplying and printing vinyl records in the UK. This latest endeavour by Maxwell follows the rebirth of the vinyl record market, and is seen by Maxwell as a means to expand Monowindow's potential customer base. Their first signing was music veteran Alex Washington, who had been considering a return to music after a ten year hiatus, but it would take another year and a half for the first album from this contract, Optimism to finally be released.
Following the success of Optimism, Apathetic has signed Washington's daughter Bette, rising R&B singer/rapper/producer La'Shawn, as well as American R&B singer Vanessa Viik. Their latest signing is Maxwell's own son, rising DJ/Producer Jake Maxell.
