"Burned Out Suns" is a single by American singer-songwriter Luke Ramada, released as a single in 2020 to promote an expanded edition of his 2016 album, The World Is Winning. "Burned Out Suns" was released as a double A-side with "Fuck", one of five new songs written for the expanded edition.
Composition[edit | edit source]
"Burned Out Suns" is a minimalist acoustic folk and indie rock song, which received comparisons to Bruce Springsteen's work on his acclaimed 1982 album Nebraska.
Lyrics[edit | edit source]
The song's lyrics discuss anxiety and depression, and how a meltdown in the mid-2010s nearly caused Luke to be dropped by his management. Luke related those events to how he was feeling and where he was determined to go, balancing the negative thoughts with feelings of confidence and defiance ("The more you want me gone, the more I want to prove you wrong").
