Dead and Buried: The Greatest Hits is a compilation album by British all-female rock band Innocent. The greatest hits collection, Innocent's first, was initially released in the United Kingdom on June 27, 2007 with little fanfare. Innocent had quietly decided to part ways after completing The Madhouse Live tour. The album contains a total of twenty-two songs, spread across two discs with eleven tracks each. The first disc features singles from 2004 and 2005, while the second disc spans 2006 and 2007. After mutually agreeing to give fans the farewell they deserved, Innocent decided to re-issue Dead and Buried in November 15, 2007 with two new tracks: a cover of Garbage's "Cherry Lips" and the Arwyn Knight collaboration "Better Left Unsaid". Due to Vixenation's closure, the greatest hits and singles were issued by Wired Records in an exclusive deal.
While some critics called Innocent's split "premature," they praised the content of the greatest hits collection, as well as both new songs. "Cherry Lips" and "Better Left Unsaid" performed very well on the singles chart, particularly the latter, which became Innocent's best-selling single ever. This prompted Innocent to renew their contract with Wired Records for a one-album deal, which included a world tour. Innocent also embarked on the Dead and Buried Tour alongside the album's re-release. The album sold 1,379,579 copies, remaining Innocent's best-selling album to date.
