Emily Henning & Friends
Emily Henning & Friends was a British TV talk-show presented by Emily Henning. The programme was produced by Princess Productions for BBC Three. It was first shown on 12 February 2008, lasting for one series of eight episodes.
Format[edit | edit source]
The show was hosted by Emily Henning, who interviewed guests on set at Pinewood Studios. Guests included celebrities, topical guests from the online world, chart-topping bands and lesser known musical acts. The audience consisted entirely of Emily's 'online friends', who would sign up via the programme's website and interact with Emily and her guests. The programme also featured a video diary of Emily's life as a popstar outside of the show, including behind-the-scenes footage of video shoots and performances.
Reception[edit | edit source]
Emily Henning & Friends was met with positive reviews, with critics complimenting Emily's personality and presenting style.
Viewership averaged at 350,000 people over the show's eight episodes, with repeats also gaining steady ratings. Henning ultimately declined to film a second series, choosing instead to focus on her promotional and touring responsibilities.
Controversy[edit | edit source]
On February 19, 2008, singer Alfie Outcast appeared as a guest on the show. Outcast was visibly intoxicated during his interview, repeatedly cursing at Henning in an aggressive manner and using misogynistic language. Outcast later revealed he had taken cocaine before his appearance on the show, which led him to be dropped by his record-label, Ensemble.
