"I Lived For The Day" is the third single from Amy Marshall's third album Morbid Lullabies. The song is one of two on the album to be written by Innocent. It was released as a physical single on July 14, 2008 and a download single the week before.

Background[edit | edit source]

Amy collaborated with the girls of Innocent before, who contributed guest vocals to the song "Heart Attack" from her second album Peculiar Secret. When it came time to get the third album ready and a great part of Amy's creative output was rejected by Alias, she became reliant on guest contributions, and looked for help from Innocent once more, but this time with songwriting. "I Live For The Day" was one of two songs written for the album by Innocent, along with "Crash And Learn".

Promotion[edit | edit source]

Like Amy's previous single "Smiles Are Out Of Style", her relationship with Horrorfilm Horizon's Katrina Regalna played a notable role in promotion. The couple married in France on May 21 and Amy gave birth to her daughter Katramy five days later. This is Amy's second marriage; in 2002 she married a high school sweetheart and had a son with him, before divorcing the following year. News broke out on Amy's hidden first marriage when the couple reunited at the Urabeachstar concert, where Amy performed. Amy was also threatened by a stalker fan, and later threatened airport security - the latter event resulted in her missing a week of promo.

"I Lived For The Day" debuted at #14 on the Urapopstar Top 40 Singles Chart on downloads alone the week of July 13, 2008, coming in as the second highest download entry from her week, just behind Rochelle and surprisingly ahead of the Sleazy Sisters even though their promotional campaign was far more impressive. The following week, the single climbed to #2 with sales of 48,832 copies in its first week on physicals, becoming Amy's third single to peak within the top 2 and the first from the Morbid Lullabies era.

The single sold 299,360 copies. It is Amy's second best-selling single, second platinum single, third consecutive single from the Morbid Lullabies era to sell over 200k, third consecutive single to spend four or more weeks inside the top 10, and her first single to spend three weeks inside the top 3. It also became Amy's first to rank in the year end top 40, coming in as the #32 single of 2008.

The single also reached #2 on the airplay charts.
