Individually Priced
Individually Priced are the duo of Kazimiera and Sky, known for singles such as Storyboard, Gates To Paradise and An Individually Priced Christmas. Sky, founding member of the duo, returned to the fold after Ash, the other founding member, went insane and was sent to rehab.
The beginning[edit | edit source]
Sky was originally descended from the Royal Family of Luxembourg; it is uncertain if she is any relation to their current ruler, Neyssa, nor if she recognizes Sky as a legitimate heir to the throne. She originally was trained in opera, but would always rather rock out instead, which is why she decided to form a new musical project. During this time, she sought out the help of Ashley Joseph LePrende, an Englishman of French descent, who had been a backup dancer for artists such as Kazimiera and Syreeta, and the two formed a duo, which they called Individually Priced. Around this time, they were picked up by the management of Russ Hooch, and were signed to Tigerstar Records.
Their debut single, Storyboard, was released, and failed to become a significant hit, only reaching a peak position of #13 after debuting at #18 the week before. During this time, Sky appeared on There's Something About Ant, a reality show to seek a girlfriend for chart-topping star Antony Jones. A follow-up single, a duet with Candella was scheduled, but never got released. Around this time, Ash was fed up with Sky's personal life, and kicked her out of the band, turning Individually Priced into a boyband, with Matthew, Dominic and Jimmy being the other members. This never materalized, and Sky soon returned after returning from anger management. Another single called First Impression Like That was planned, but eventually got cancelled. It was clear that Individually Priced needed another change... and this time, it was with the management!
New management and debut album[edit | edit source]
Following a management change, Individually Priced were finally able to commit to releasing another single and an album. They decided on Gates To Paradise as their single, and finally were able to break free from the underrated tag. The single was a success, as it charted at #5; the album, This Could Be Fatal, included indie-pop influences primarily, and also made the top 10, narrowly missing out on going gold. Around this time, Ash became romantically involved with other stars, such as Candella, with whom they re-recorded their cancelled collaboration songs for their album, and Aimee from the duo Bullet Lips.
A last-minute addition to their album, An Individually Priced Christmas, created speculation that Individually Priced would join in on the Christmas week releases. At first, this didn't turn out to be true, as they had scheduled for the week before, but running out of time to promote, they joined in and released Christmas week. The track, which was written in satirical form about the commercialization of Christmas, was joined with an original track not found on the album, 40 Below At The Border, written about the fact that despite differences between people, that if it's that cold, then they both agree it's cold! It was another success, reaching #14 in the week of toughest competition of all.
Individually Priced are currently preparing their second album, which they hope to have out in the summer, but it depends on how sleepy Ash continues to feel whether the album will ever get prepared.
The first single from the new album was announced by Ash to be "My Kind of Pretty", and is set for a May 14th release. Ash wrote it on his own due to Sky's constant absense, which led to her being kicked out of Individually Priced and taking the name to represent a collective that he leads in the studio. The second album was expected for a summer release, but was delayed due to label troubles as their label, Tigerstar Records, started to fall into oblivion. To replace Sky, he enlisted former TRL host and solo singer Kazimiera to join Individually Priced; she has given up her solo career in exchange for work in a larger studio project.
The single "My Kind of Pretty" was beset by pitfalls in its week of release. Many of the shops where the single was to be sold were hit by tornadoes, and not as many copies were shipped than normally would've been. As a result, the single charted at #26, becoming their lowest charting single, and matched Kazimiera's peak for her Tango challenge single, "Open The Doors To Fun". During the same week, it had been revealed that Sky was participating in Uravision, under a fake name, concealing her identity until the day of the performance. She represented Belgium, due to her heritage in the area.
Line-up changes[edit | edit source]
After Sky was fired, Ash and Kazimiera continued as Individually Priced, returning with a single entitled "Tin Ear Titans". However, shortly into the single's promo, Ash started acting insane, and was eventually taken to rehab. Kazimiera vowed to continue Individually Priced, and a teaser at the end of the video for "Tin Ear Titans" has Sky returning to the fold, playing the role of an evil mastermind posting rehab videos of Ash on Youtube. Since then, they have signed to Alias Records, and will be releasing a re-recorded version of the album, "The 24th Curse", which is released with vocals from Ash and Kazimiera on their former label, Tigerstar Records. The new album following that, the first from the now all-female duo, will be a mix of re-recorded tracks from The 24th Curse, as well as new tracks and possibly a multi-part epic song.
Sky's age controversy[edit | edit source]
Sky claims to be 26 years old, but rumours have circulated that she is really over 40 and has undergone botox treatments to conceal her age! The truth is still unknown, but researchers are trying to figure out Sky's true age.
