Background[edit | edit source]
After releasing "J'en perds le contrôle" in France as the lead single from his sophomore francophone album, Bellamy decided to release the critical acclaimed "Je ne peux pas vivre sans toi" as the second single. The song, a fan and critic favorite is also Bellamy's favorite track from his French album. Written by Isaac and wife Elice Claire, the song is about being unable to function without having the person you love around. During an interview with NRJ Paris, Bellamy explained that the track was written in a matter of minutes with Elice humming a melody. "We were home one evening and she [Elice] started humming this sweet melody. I quickly grabbed a piece of paper and words just started flowing so easily." he said "I've never had a song come to me that quickly, it felt so sincere." The French version of the song was produced by French producer Matthieu Mendes and it is composed of an acoustic guitar and violins.
For the UK release, Both Isaac and Elice translated the song to English and had Mendes create a Frenglish version (single remix) with a different arrangement. Isaac re-recorded the French version and also recorded the English version, titled "Teach Me How to Breathe" with the Frenglish version's arrangement. The song received its first official play in the UK on 15 December 2012. It was received by positive reviews from British critics.

Music video[edit | edit source]
For the French release of the song, the video was shot in the last week of October and was first played on M6 France in November. For the British Frenglish release, new scenes were shot on 3 December 2012 in Paris. Despite re-shooting new scenes for the "Frenglish" version, the French version of the music video was released in the UK as well. According to Next-Generation records, they did not like new scenes and believed that the French version represented the song better.
The video shows Isaac in a closed warehouse recording a love testimony to his girl. Throughout the video, Isaac is seen playing the piano and chasing after the girl. Despite being a simple video, critics applauded Isaac and commented that the video displays the song's "emotions" very well.
