Biography[edit | edit source]
Not That Kinda Girl Era 2006-2007[edit | edit source]
Kelly Brown (born 26th June 1988) in London is a UK RnB/pop singer she released her debut single "Not That Kinda Girl" in September 2006, the single entered the UK top 40 at 35 after little promotion. Kelly quickly released her 2nd single at the end of October 2006, the single was the ballad "No More Cryin" the single missed the top 40 and the debut album "Not That Kinda Girl" followed in November also missing the UK top 40. Kelly was involved in a serious explosion at a recording studio during December 2006 causing her serious injuries Kelly quickly recovered and drew out plans to release her planned 3rd single "Finally Found" although plans for the single were dropped before promo began to allow Kelly to record tracks for a re-release of the "Not That Kinda Girl" album. The album had a complete revamp with 6 new tracks and a few tracks removed and new artwork for the re-release later named (Not That Kinda Girl-Ultra Edition) the album was released with Elite Records after the closure of Kelly's first record label Plat'num Records. The first single was the new track "Signal" which Kelly wrote for the RnB group Destined Ladies but after the bands split Kelly used the song although the first version which features Kelly as a featured performer can be found on their album. The single was Kelly's biggest hit to date entering the singles chart at 11 and then rising to 9 the following week. The album re-release was also a success entering the album chart at 19 and then rising to 16 the following week and spending 3 weeks in the top 20. The 2nd single off the re-release was the double A side "He Ain't No Man/Dem Haters, the first plan for the single was a double A side "He Ain't No Man/Not That Kinda Girl (Remix) so far the remix has not been released. In between promoting the re-release singles Kelly was chosen as a support act for Russ Hooch on his final tour promoting his "Exit 27: Greatest Hits" album, which covered many major arena's. After completing the tour Kelly promoted the single and album, the double A side single was also a success for Kelly peaking at 11 in the singles chart and bringing the album back into the top 40. Kelly was arrested in July after a reported theft from a radio station although charges were later dropped. Kelly also headlined a gig at G.A.Y in July performing the singles and some new tracks that could be included on the 2nd album although Kelly or Elite Records have yet to confirm this. Kelly stated she wanted to release a 5th single the Jaded written "Goodbye Buster" and a 6th single during winter from the album but these plans have been dropped as Kelly is recording new tracks.

Kelly spent the last five months of 2007 recording her 2nd album "Brown Sugar the album was released in March 2008. It features the top 10 single "Funk With Me" which charted at 7 in the uk single chart, Kelly's highest entry to date. The 2nd single was Kelly's 2nd double A side single "The Dancefloor/Dangerous Game. The single peaked at 12 in the UK singles chart. The 3rd single is Gimme That which will be released on 04/08/08. Kelly confirmed at Urabeachstar that Brown Sugar would be re-released in December with a brand new track as the albums 4th single.
