2013: The Uraps Factor[edit | edit source]

The second series of The Uraps Factor premiered on 12 January 2013, where the judge's house stage was shown, featuring the final 28 acts. It was shown that Malaya Gold had reached this stage in the show, and were one of the final seven girls auditioning infront of the mentor for groups that year, Brett Clarkson and his guest judge Charlee Brookes. She performed "It's Not Right", and were chosen by Brett to progress through to the live shows as one of his final five girls and one of the 17 finalists. In Week 1, Malaya performed "Right Here" and progressed into the next week. For Week 2 and Week 3 she performed "Swimming Pools" and "Sydney" and continued to progress through the competition. In Week 4 Malaya performed "I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself", which saw one of the girls category be eliminated, leaving Malaya one of only four girls remaining. For Week 5, now part of the final ten, she sang "Miguel". In Week 6, Malaya sang "Lose Yourself", however she ended up in the bottom two against Matt West. After Gold's mentor Brett Clarkson and Kleo voted to safe Malaya and eliminate Matt, judges James Moss and Candi chose to eliminate Malaya instead, taking the vote to deadlock. However when the publics votes were revealed, Malaya had come in 8th place with the public, meaning Matt had come in 9th and was eliminated from the competition. In Week 7, Malaya sang "No Woman No Cry" and survived a double eviction. For Week 8 she sang "Your Love Is King" and progressed into the final five. Now into Week 9, there was no more double elimination, simply the act with the fewest votes would instantly be eliminated. Malaya performed "Ain't No Mountain" and "Love Combustion", and progressed to the semi-final in Week 10 as part of the final four. For Week 10, Malaya performed "Losing You" and "Be Without You" and once again progressed, this time into the live grand final as part of the final three along with Indigo Indigo and Chelsea Flowers. On the Saturday night episode of the final, Malaya performed "Be Without You" again, as well as "The Boy Is Mine" which she performed live on stage with Honey. It was revealed Malaya had progressed to the final two, along with Chelsea Flowers. For the Sunday final, Malaya performed the winner's single "Power To Heal". It was eventually revealed that Malaya was the winner of the second season of The Uraps Factor, with 70.8% of the final vote against Chelsea. This meant that Malaya would release "Power To Heal" in the near future.
