Song information[edit | edit source]

"Mon destin douce (c'est une belle vie)" was written by Elice Claire and produced by Diamond Cut. The song was originally written in Italian/English and then translated to French for the purpose of Chanel's line of handbags. The original version, called "Destino mio (la bella vita)" can be found as a B-side on Elice and Ben Johnston's single "Scattered Echoes", the original version has a different instrumental and tempo than the French version.
During her interview with 4Music, Elice revealed that she wrote the song to her fiance Adrian Donovan, thanking him for taking care of her when her father passed away in 2010. The song was one of the tracks featured on the iTunes Countdown to Mademoiselle. The track was added to iTunes on 29 May 2011.

Reception[edit | edit source]

The song received rave reviews by critics and fans. BBC commented "the new new songs on the rarities album could possibly be her [Elice] best works yet" and adding that the song [Mon destin douce] should've been released as a single to promote the album. Nick Levine of Digital Spy gave the song five stars and described it as a "a classy and effortlessly elegant midtempo-pop tune - in other words, A Proper Elice song" and added that the chorus "makes one feel whole."

Music Video[edit | edit source]

In 2011 the fashion giant Chanel brought director Baz Luhrmann and singer Elice Claire together for a lavish multi-million-dollar music video and commercial for Elice's song "Mon destin douce" which was used as the theme for the fashion house's Mademoiselle handbag line. The music video was inspired by Luhrmann Red Curtain trilogy. The result is amazing magical and sensual.
Claire plays the part of a seductive singer who flees the paparazzi. She jumps into a taxi and tells the driver to just drive off. Sitting beside her is a young mystery guy, whom she falls in love at first sight. What follows is a romance that leads to the pivotal moment - the look they share at the very end.
