NRG is a reissue of Indigo Peak's sixth studio album 'Never Really Gone'. It is the highest selling album of 2021.
Background[edit | edit source]
Following the massive success of Indigo Peak's sixth studio album 'Never Really Gone', the duo returned to the studio to begin working on new material for a potential re-release. Sessions proved fruitful and resulted in six selected tracks, one of which; 'Sweat' features guest vocals from fellow IPR act Olivia Rush. Of the new tracks, DIY reviewer Emma Swann stated "The six new tracks progress the sound we've come to expect from Indigo Peak over the last twelve months into something even more special and exciting." The 'Hyperion Mix' of previous single 'Bad Son' was included here in favour of the original album mix.
Thematically, the LP deals with issues of addiction, love, life and death. Which should really be the new 'live, laugh, love' if we're all being honest.
Critical and fan favourite track 'Be Right Back' was selected as the reissues lead single. This had originally been written and recorded for inclusion on Indigo Peak's number one release 'Alive EP'.
The final single to be released from 'NRG' was 'Petrichor/Balenciaga/Sweat', a collaboration with Olivia Rush.
Critical Reception[edit | edit source]
Emma Swann of DIY gave the album a five star rating, highlighting the six new tracks as amongst Indigo Peak's strongest work.
Tracklistings[edit | edit source]
All tracks produced and mastered by Andre Cassenove except 'Sleeping Dogs/Getaway Car' which contains additional production by Shell Ruin and 'Ruins' which contains additional production by Alesha.
