Katrina Paris Jones (born August 22, 1989) is a Canadian pop singer located in the United Kingdom.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Beginnings[edit | edit source]

Jones was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on August 22, 1989, to Marie and Charlies Jones. From a very young age, she had expressed a deep love for music, even writing her first song by the age of 6. Since her family wasn't rich, though, she wasn't able to attend any special music schools or programs beyond her school-funded music events.

By age 19, she had won a contest in her community which gave her the chance to record a demo to send out to record executives. Although no record companies in the United States nor Canada seemed to be interested in her, she'd caught the eyes of record executives in the United Kingdom, specifically at Saturdays Records. They flew her to London, and after an audition, they signed her on the spot, noting her talent, charm, and passion as key reasons she was signed. Shortly after her signing, she began to befriend labelmate China.

Paris Is Burning and astROMANTIC (2009)[edit | edit source]

In June 2009, Paris' single, Smash The Dancefloor, was announced for release on July 6th, 2009. Just a few days later, though, the single was pushed up to June 29th, 2009. Within hours of it's announcement, Paris began promotional activities for the single. Smash The Dancefloor peaked at #11 on the Singles chart, while the album Paris Is Burning peaked at #8 on the albums chart. In September, Paris will join Syd Wolfe on her Bigger & Badder Tour as a supporting act, along with Crystal Barker.
Shortly after the release of her debut single, Paris announced that she would be releasing The Model off her debut album. It was later decided that, due to the volume of b-sides Paris wanted to use, that the single would become The Model EP. On August 16, 2009, Paris speculated via her official Twitter page that The Model EP would be the last single off the album. It was also announced that Paris would join Syd Wolfe and S*F as a supporting act in Asia on Indigo Peak's Stage Invaders: World Tour.
Paris was to release a second album called astROMANTIC at the end of the year, but after several faked deaths, she went into hiding and decided not to release it.

The 5th Annual Tango Challenge and Songs From My Bedroom (2011-2013)[edit | edit source]

In February 2011, Paris was announced as a participant in the 5th annual Tango Challenge. She was partnered with One Zero. Their release How To Build A Perfect Beast charted at #18 on the official charts. Following the Tango Challenge, she released the Oceans of Tears EP, which charted at #17.

In 2013, after being dropped from her label and being on a two-year hiatus, Paris returned with a new single, a cover of Girls Aloud's On The Metro, which charted at #10. She was then signed to Bumblebee Records. Following that, she released the Songs From My Bedroom album, which charted at #3 and sold a total of 423,260 copies during its 21 weeks on the chart.

Paris was also featured on the single Something True by Bumblebee Records head 8-Bit.
