"Running With Scissors" is a collaboration between Amy Marshall and Horrorfilm Horizon. The single was released August 25, 2008 and is taken from the re-release of Marshall's album Morbid Lullabies.
Background[edit | edit source]
The song was written by Katrina and Karyn of Horrorfilm Horizon, taking Amy into the band's comfort zone of electropop. The song marks new territory for Amy because the sounds of her second and third album were mostly dark and rock oriented, while this is a more upbeat offering, highly influenced by European pop music. Amy's last attempt at recording dance pop was her collaboration with Charlie C, "It Must Be Love", released in 2005.
"Running With Scissors" is not the only song on the reissue of Morbid Lullabies to showcase a new direction for Amy; "Trying To Keep Myself Sane", written by China, also contains electropop influences.
Promotion[edit | edit source]
After the single was announced, Amy's wife and Horrorfilm Horizon member Katrina Regalna was worried she would be dumped when it was reported Amy was dating a Bronxite named Sebastian Rossi. Worried she would be "dumped for a fatass", she convinced Amy to break up with Sebastian by sending nude pictures of herself to her cell phone. Video footage of Amy and Sebastian's angry breakup was later uploaded onto YouTube. Amy also caused a minor controversy when failing label Wired Records singled her out for "not being lesbian enough".

Chart performance[edit | edit source]
"Running With Scissors" reached #1 on the airplay charts on August 17, 2008, becoming the sixth #1 for Amy and the second for Horrorfilm Horizon. With this single, Amy broke a three-way tie for most airplay #1s, a record she shared with Esmeralda Dimuzio and Sandi York.
The single entered at #19 on downloads only the week before its physical release, climbing to #4 when the physical single was released with sales of 41,232. Though the single is the highest charting and best selling for Horrorfilm Horizon, it fell short of Amy's expectations. The single sold a total of 175,801 copies in its chart run.
