Sean Cotes (born 22 July, 1990), is a British guitarist and singer, who is a member of the alternative rock boyband Jetfire. Cotes sings background vocals on most of Jetfire songs, and is regarded as their lead guitarist.

Career[edit | edit source]

Cotes attended high school, where three of the boys in the year above (Aaron Dixon, Joey Nicholson and Mikey Thompson formed a rock band, however it was long before the trio, who were well aware of Cote's musical ability, asked him to become the band's fourth member. After the other three members graduated from school and decided to attempt to get a record deal, Sean left school with one year to go to join his bandmates on their quest. He left school with 11 GCSE's and 2 AS Levels. From 2009 to 2011 they managed to secure many small local gigs, but were unable to get a major label signing.

Before their fame, the band would post YouTube videos online, in the hopes of gaining more notice. Eventually they discovered a new talent show named The Uraps Factor, which was looking for auditionees in the Summer of 2011. The boys applied, not realising quite how enormous the show was going to become. Out of 192,000 entries, the band made it all the way to the live finals, were they were eliminated in the quarter final, finishing in 5th place.

Straight after appearing on the show, several labels showed strong interest in signing the boys, however the boys decided to sign with Next Generation Records, a fairly new label which focused on new and exciting music. In 2012, the boys released their self-titled debut album "Jetfire" which spawned four singles, "Tears In Your Eyes" which charted at #5 on the singles chart, "Turn Back Time" which gave the boys their first #1 single, "Midnight Trail" which peaked at #2 and "Dim The Lights" which gave the group their second #1 hit.

The band released their second album "Counting The Stars" in June 2016, alongside the lead single "Little Black Book", both of which charted at #1 in the UK and launched the band to international success. As of January 2017, the band have sold over five million records in the UK alone.

Asides from his songwritting and performing, Cotes also does a lot of work with animal charities. As of late 2016, he also started making a name in the fashion industry, launching his own fashion line with Topman.

Sean is known as the "baby" of the band, due to being the youngest. He is often regarded as sweet and innocent, and always looking on the bright side. He is probably best known however, for his quirky behaviour, sometimes saying things that are slightly random or don't really relate to the subject. His bandmates often states he lives in "Planet Sean". He is rather popular with female fans due to them finding him "cute".

Personal life[edit | edit source]

In June 2012, Cotes hit headlines when he began a relationship with Ruby and the Gems, despite the fact she was in a relationship with Jackson Bradshaw at the time, leading to her dumping Bradshaw for Cotes. The couple currently live together in London, where they share their home with their numerous pets, including three iguanas, two geckos, a terrapin, a bearded dragon and a poodle.
