Strobelights are a British eight-piece bassline vocal group from Liverpool and Essex, UK, consisting of male vocalists Dylan Trotter, Freddie Hibbert, Ross Rider, Tommy Bolt and female vocalists Amelia Marras, Megan Gooch, Natalie Rowland and Shaniqua Leishman. The group formed in early 2012 and first recieved press attention in July 2012. Their debut single "One Night In Ibiza" was released on 11 March, 2013 and became a top 20 hit. The group eventually split up in 2013 due to fighting within the band.
2012: Formation[edit | edit source]
Casting calls for the "next big dance act" went out in January 2012, with auditions being held in Cardiff, Essex and Liverpool. The group was originally planned to be a four-piece consisting of two boys and two girls, however the group's management felt that a large amount of members might help the band stand out against other groups in the current industry, with no bands currently having more than five members. Eventually, the group's eight members were found. An initial twelve members were originally chosen in April, however within the same month four members had been removed and the group remained an eight-piece.
2012 - 2013: One Night In Ibiza[edit | edit source]
On 21 July, 2012 a statement was released introducing the group and revealing they had a song due for release in the near future. On 9 August the group revealed their debut single would be titled "One Night In Ibiza", however due to in-band fighting the release date was pushed back three times, until eventually the group had to cancel the release until the band's issues were resolved. On 01 January 2013, the band officially returned, with a new release date of 11 March 2013. Upon it's release, the single charted at #20. The second single "Dominoes" was due to be released as a download only single on 01 April 2013, along with the album however once again due to fighting within the band, the release date was pushed back, and eventually cancelled as the band split up.
