Sweet Like Candi is an MTV television series that premiered on March 17, 2011. The show uses a reality television format, following the personal life of the newest popstar, Candi. Entertainment Weekly had an exclusive preview of the show and stated the series was a "New Classic". After two hugely successful seasons, Candi refused to sign for a third season, after falling out with MTV over airing "parts of her life that are far too private for television" and breached their contract. She has stated though the show is not cancelled, and is just on a hiatus for the time being.
Overview[edit | edit source]
Sweet Like Candi follows the life of Candi as she prepares to release her debut single. It shows her crazy lifestyle and itroduces those closest to her.
Originally, Candi is introduced as a sweet but slightly dippy typical blonde airhead. She then flies out to Los Angles, and meets producers, records her music video for That's Hot, as well as tracks for her debut album. The show reveals many details about Candi's career, such as clips of Candi in the recording studio, and exclusively revealing information such as album tracks (such as "So Sorry"). The first few episodes of Season one also document Candi's relationships, firstly with MTV presenter and model, Chad Heintenson. However, after he pushed her down three flights of stairs, which was documented in the series, Candi began dating Callum Andrews, and the pair's relationship was followed, as they eventually became engaged.
