The Forbidden Ecstasy Tour is the second concert tour by American recording artist Elice Claire to promote her second studio album Intimate Encounters. The tour was officially announced on February 2010, and described by Claire as "a 'pop electro sin'". 2010 Tango Challenge contestant Cassie Fox and Uraps biggest R&B girl group Rouge were confirmed as the supporting act for the tour. Elice's production team and fan-club helped her designed the poster and the stage of the concert.
Elice and her production team developed a stage that spins to give different perspectives and everything for the show fitted within it. Elice felt that the design would allow fans to connect with every song while enjoying the show at same time. The set list of the tour consisted of songs from Intimate Encounters as well as her debut album Strictly Confidential.
The show was divided into seven segments with an extra one being the encore. Each segment is based on the "7 deadly sins" and also featured Claire in a new outfit. Each segment is followed by a video interludes in between each act.
Background[edit | edit source]
On February 29, 2010, Claire announced through her official website UK concerts to support her second studio album, Intimate Encounters (2009). The tour would kick off on May 1 in London, England at The O2 Arena. Claire released a statement saying, "I wish I could bring my tour to new markets and performing in front of new people that may not have had the opportunity to see any of my previous tours, but for the time being this will have to be a UK only tour. I wish I had more time to extend the tour to Australia, Japan and even South American".
The Forbidden Ecstasy Tour was originally going to be called The Up, Close & Intimate Tour, but the name was scrapped after Elice found out that another singer has used the name before.
Development[edit | edit source]
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Claire explained that she wanted to put together a daring and innovating looking, show which would be blow everyone away. She explained that the tour is a "pop-electro sin" because each of the segments of the tour is divided into one of the deadly sins, featuring songs that fit into that category. According to her the design of the show is innovative and forward in terms of creativeness. Claire said that she wanted the stage, the outfit and the whole production to be top notch, nothing cheap. It's rumored that Saturdays Records and the management are importing tour props from all over the world, Elice explains
"So I’ve gathering ideas for my second tour, the moment i began singing in my first tour with China. I was gutted at that time, coz all these amazing ideas started pop up in my head when i had just started the last tour, but i guess we save the best for last. For this tour, we are heading to the next level. I expect a much older audience and i think that everyone will be blown away when they see the show. I've been working with designers from all over the world to create the most amazing outfits for the tour, that would fall under each of the segments or each of the '7 deadly sins'.
The theme of the show is the seven deadly sins. According to Claire, the songs on Intimate Encounters and Strictly Confidential can be represented by one or more of the deadly sins, according to Elice everything in this world is somewhat of a sin.
When putting the setlist together and organizing the order of the show, Elice explained
"At first i wanted to have a setlist with the order of upbeat songs, mid-tempos and ending the show with the ballads, however that wouldn’t work out, because all the songs are scattered in each of the segments. Then we decided that we should have the show in order, like the 7 deadly sins. The show opens with a song called Forbidden Ecstasy, which so happens to be about the seven deadly sins. Then first segment is Lust, followed by Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy, Pride and we end the show with an Encore.
