‘The Mascuerade Ball Tour’ was officially announced by Jack Stevens and Live Nation in January 2021, a few weeks after the cancellation of the ‘Close Encounters Tour’ which had originally been planned for Summer 2021 but was pulled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and restrictions around live events. Given the new winter touring schedule venues were changed from Stadiums to Arenas with 10 shows initially announced including two dates at London’s O2 Arena. Due to demand, Jack would eventually announce 21 shows including new venues Wembley Arena and Sheffield Arena all of which sold to full capacity.
Unlike Jack’s previous arena tours, ‘The Mascuerade Ball Tour’ was completed in the round, which gave all ticketholders a full immersive 360 degrees experience and allowed Jack to get closer to his fans. In the original press release for the show Jack promised a “visual spectacular” and his “boldest show to date”. Although originally promising to perform ‘fan favourites’ from ‘Close Encounters’, the show was notable in being a Greatest Hits heavy set, with just two album tracks from the accompanying album performed.
The show was split into six distinct acts, culminating in a final encore of three of Jack’s biggest singles, finishing with his first ever number one ‘Shame On You’. Given that Jack had previously announced he was stepping back from the music industry after the completion of the tour it was unsurprising there were a number of emotional moments during the run with Jack often overwhelmed by the fan’s reaction. He was also joined by special guests and friends, Emily Henning, Indigo Peak, Paul and Loretta Lambert across the duration of the tour.
The final leg culminated in six London show’s across The O2 Arena and Wembley Arena, Jack’s final two shows at The O2 were filmed for broadcast in the UK on Channel 4 and All 4 in 2022 and release on CD & DVD. In Jack’s final show at London’s Wembley Arena on 21/12/2021 he was joined by his children as he performed ‘Last Romeo’ for the final time.
