Victory is a British pop boy band based in London, consisting of members Adam Jones, Callum Lister, James Jackson and Steven Alexander. The group formed in 2008 when Callum, James and Steven all attended school together. Adam joined the band in 2010. They signed with Next Generation Records in March 2013 after impressing label owner Coral Harris. The group's debut single "Yo Yo Girl" was released on 27 May 2013 and debuted at #2 in the UK. Second single "Boombox" became another top 2 hit for the group. Their debut album "Electric Gold" was released on 16 September 2013 and peaked at #2 in the UK.
2008 - 2012: Formation[edit | edit source]
Prior to their media attention, Callum, James and Steven met at school and bonded over their mutual passion of pop music back in 2008 and have been working together since 2010 when Adam, joined the band after they felt something was missing.
2013: Electric Gold[edit | edit source]
Victory were first introduced to the public on 11 March, 2013. Their debut single was slated for a May release, with the album following in July. The group's big break came as they performed their debut single "Yo Yo Girl" on Comic Relief. The boys soon attracted the attention of Next Generation Records label owner, Coral Harris who arranged for the boys to perform for her, leading to them being signed to the label. "Yo Yo Girl" was released on 27 May 2013 and became a massive success, debuting at #2 and staying in that position the following week. The group's second single, titled "Boombox" features their mentor Coral Harris and is due for release on 22 July 2013. In August 2013, the band revealed their debut album would be titled "Electric Gold" with a release date of 16 September 2013. Upon it's release, the album debuted at #2 on the album charts.
2014 - present: Second Studio Album[edit | edit source]
On 18 January 2014, it was revealed the band would be releasing the official Sports Relief charity single. The single was titled "Don't You (Forget About Me)" and charted at #8, a disappointing position compared to their earlier singles.
After a year absence, on 12 January, Victory revealed they would be returning with a brand new single titled "I Will Not Be Listening". The single was released on 22 February 2015 and charted at #6.
