"Your Own Reflection (Echo)" is the second single taken from Regina Harper's debut album How Many Miles To Hollywood?, released on September 24th 2012 in the UK and September 25th in the USA. The track was written by Regina Harper and produced by both Regina and Butch Walker. Regina states the song is about being in love with someone who no longer cares about you.

The music video, directed by Chris Appelbaum, premiered on September 9th 2012. On 30th September 2012, the track officially debuted at #3 on the Urapopstar singles charts.

Song Information[edit | edit source]

The track was written solely by Regina and produced by both Regina and Butch Walker. Regina claims the song is about "the breaking point in a relationship where you tell yourself it's over, but deep down you don't want it to be". She added that many other people would be able to relate to the lyrics of the song and stated the track's relatability and positive reception were the reasons it was chosen as the album's second single.

Music Video[edit | edit source]

The track's music video took two days to shoot. It was directed by Chris Appelbaum.
The video opens with Regina walking through a maize field. She is wearing pink, blue and purple streaks in her hair. In the distance, a shirtless boy (portrayed by Sean O'Donnell, a model) can be seen with headphones in and walking rapidly. Regina sneaks up on him, but never reveals herself. Instead she watches and sings the words of the song.
For the second verse, scenes with Regina on a ranch, wearing a yellow polka-dot dress and a denim jacket are added in. She watches a different boy (portrayed by Cole Sprouse) look at himself in the mirror of an old bathroom. He is wearing nothing but a towel around his waist. At one stage, he drops the towel (nothing explicit is shown to the viewer) and we see Regina enter and stand in the doorway. He never acknowlages her and continues to stare at himself. This causes to Regina to storm off and slam the door, but still no reaction is given.
For the middle 8, Regina is seen in an open outdoor area, where a bonfire is taking place. She can be seen holding sparklers and is wearing a short, bright blue dress and blue sunglasses. She sets her eyes on a third boy (portrayed by Ross Lynch) who is shirtless and barefooted, but is wearing blue jeans. Regina approaches him and he kisses her, before smiling and walking away. The final chorus sees Regina running through a forest in the same attire as the bonfire scene. She approaches all three boys from the video. The all have their back to her. She drops to her knees and puts her head in her hands.
The video ends with Regina on a tire-swing, staring into the distance. She is in a daze and looks to have been crying. The sun is coming up and the first two boys from the video are shown to be lying on the ground, eyes wide open. They appear to be dead. The third boy comes up behind her and kisses her head and holds her, but she does not react.
