"Burnt Out Heartbeat" is the lead single from Emily Henning's sophomore, Seventeen Missing Kisses. The song was written and produced by Shell Ruin, charted at #1, and became one of Henning's biggest-selling hits, with 444,832 copies sold in the United Kingdom. It was certified Platinum and was later sampled in Twisted Disco's Top 5 hit, Heart Beats Burn. It was also Henning's first single to be released through her own record label, Saturdays Records, following her departure from Wired Records.

"Burnt Out Heartbeat" debuted at number-one on the UK Singles Chart, earning Henning her sixth UK chart-topper. The song became one of Henning's biggest-selling hits to date, with 444,832 copies sold in the United Kingdom.

Notably, "Burnt Out Heartbeat" was Henning's first single to find success in Asia, charting at #4 in Japan and #50 in South Korea. The single's breakout success in Asia inspired Henning's 2020 single "Big in Japan".
