Meli H K Cat (13th November, 2005), or Melinderellicious K is an Australian singer, songwriter, mother and occasional actor.
She is more popular for being a supporter of the underdogs, and for being Josie Matthews ugliest former companion.

Beginning[edit | edit source]

Meli started her media career as an extra on various Australian TV sets, where talent scouts tried to convince her parents to let her take the lead. Eventually, at the age of 10, she was given her chance to shine. Unfortunately, the show she was due to star on did not air more than one episode, and so this path did not do her career justice.

Introduction To Music[edit | edit source]

So, at the age of 11, still pretty upset over her ordeal at the show, she picked up a dusty old guitar and did the first think you could think of - smashed it in true rockstar form. Her sister, Bobby, saw this, and bought a drumkit instead, hoping Meli would not destroy this as well. Meli then did the next best thing - played it, showing her parents that her career path should have been music all along.

It was there that Meli wrote her first song. Unfortunately, it was burned in a fire, but, as stated in an old interview:

"If anyone ever needed to know how it went, I could do it - very quickly".

As yet, no requests have been made for it...

However...

Fame Outside Australia[edit | edit source]

At the age of 15, Meli decided that it was time for a change of scenery - and moved straight to the UK. It was here that she, through a friend, scored some low-key gigs in downtown London, where she met and married a (slightly) younger version of Peter O'Shea.
At the age of 17, just as she was preparing for the major release of her first single, she fell pregnant - so the release was put on hold... until six months after Stephanie.
So, instead of releasing in 2003, Meli burst onto the UK scene in the middle of 2004, and released her debut single "Who's Lovin' You", a cover of an album track by one of her home idols Vanessa Amorosi.
WLY debuted in the charts at 40, but rose to 32 within the week.
The single only took two more weeks before it dropped out of the charts forever.

Ad Break[edit | edit source]

Meli then went home for a holiday - the first time she had gone back to Australia since she had moved to the Uk all those years ago.

She was 19 at the time.

New Image[edit | edit source]

When Meli had returned, however, she sported a brand new short "boy-length" hairstyle, new teeth, clothes, and more variety of photos.

She then decided, after a month, to change her look once again, thus sarting her trend of wigs. She also, in that time, divorced Peter O'Shea and took full custody of their daughter, Stephanie.

With the turn of controversy finally behind her, Meli released her second UK single, "So Not Me", a fun pop song based on (mostly) her newest image and the pressure of fame.

Although it generally did better on the first week of release (debuting at #14), it turned for the worst, and quickly plumpited down faster than the previous single.

You Better Hope...[edit | edit source]

This was followed by her awaited debut album, "You Better Hope You're Sorry", which featured duets with the late O'Shea and Tara Lewis, as well as a cover from Dolly Parton, and original songs. This was released on the 1st of August in 2005.
The title was originally going to be Forbidden (taken from an album track), but after a newcomer to the scene released a song by the same name, was quickly changed. This change was to prove to her UK critics that she could, in fact, release a variety of music.

Halloween/Other Singles[edit | edit source]

As the Halloween of 2005 was coming up, Meli announced that a new single, appropirately entitled "The Halloween EP" would be released - right on the date of Halloween.
It did not do as well as hoped.

Surprise 2006 Comeback[edit | edit source]

After some new ideas were floating onto paper, Meli began to record brand new material.

The first single, of this new mateial was T.B.A., titled to both confuse the public and the press.
The single proved to work in her favour, and debuted at number 6 in the charts.

Shortly after the release of T.B.A., Meli released another single, appropriately titled The Show Must Go On.
Although not as high, this single was also a success, debuting in the top 10, and, like it's precessor, was kept in the charts for a longer period of time than any previous release.

Also in this time, Meli managed to hide a pregnancy, fall in love & marry Adam of Twist, give birth, and still manage to perform at Dr C's nightclub.

That Duet[edit | edit source]

Meli then released her first duet single - with Bonnie's Loopholes.
This was titled Dimming Of The Day/Help Me Get Through, and the latter song was co-written by both Meli & members of the band.

2007[edit | edit source]

This year will see Meli release not only a brand new single, "...You Think I'll Stay Because Of That?" (on May 14), but also her long awaited sophmore album "OutTake" (on June 4).

It is also been confirmed by the official Meli Team that both Meli & partner Morris David Cat are currently working together on a secret project.

It is also comfirmed that Meli has changed her stage name, to celebrate her union with Morris.

2008[edit | edit source]

Meli has now returned, looking rather rock chick-like, nose reduced, and is still in the process of recording brand new material.

Singles so far in 2008 have consisted of:
Simply Irresistible - it flops, not even making the top 40.
It's All Coming Back To Me Now - it turned up at number 13.
Refusing To Cry - her first downloadable single, reached 19.
Sorry Doesn't Fit My Suit - a brand new download exclusive, only reaching 29 in the charts.

She has just started another hiatus, this time due to family issues.

Other Work[edit | edit source]

She was nominated for Sexiest female in FHM for the second year in a row.
She came in at number 54, 16 places lower than her position in the previous year's chart.

She also co-owns, and, as of early 2008, actively manages, independent label Limited Edition Records.
She is the biggest star on the label, and hopes it will do well.

She is also setting up one of the biggest charity events of 2008 - Jeans 4 Genes Day. A select handful of celebrities have joined in so far, but rumours of even bigger names are to come.

Family and Personal Life[edit | edit source]

Meli is the older cousin of former Idol contestant / successful popstar Josie Matthews.
She is also the second of six children. Her sister (Bobellina aka Bobbi) is the older sibling, whereas her brothers (William, George, Daniel and Stanley) are the quad younger siblings.

She was married to O'Shea member Peter, but filed for divorce due to abuse and age issues.
She has also divorced from homosexual Twist member Adam DeAngelo, due to his homosexuality.

She is the mother of Stephanie (born March 2004), Noah (born approx. June 2006) and three other chidren (born December 2007).

  • The triplets names have yet to pop up in the tabloids, by choice of Meli and Morris.

She is the wife of successful male popstar Morris David Cat.

People, including Victoria Newton also believed that she was also dating Dr C and the Predicates member Neil, as well as Loophole Sam Honey.
Fans, in a poll, voted Morris over the other two, purely based on his popstar/cute looks.

She also owns a Koala, a common Australian animal icon and endangered species.

Famous friends include Camilla Holmes and Paulo Araujo.

About The PR[edit | edit source]

Meli's PR, from 2004, is, wait for it, refered to as Meli. She has promoted three acts, all releasing at least one single, although at one stage she did own another act which never released anything. Meli is still around today.

This page is still in need of some professional-looking help.
