Career[edit | edit source]

Paul is a Scottish Singer/Songwriter from Edinburgh, Scotland. Since 2002 he has released 8 studio albums, 2 compliation albums, 41 singles and 1 mixtape.

Early Career[edit | edit source]

In 2002 Paul released his debut album Days Like These. The album charted in the UK Top 20 and spawned 5 hit singles, Including top 3 hit Every Six Seconds. During the winter in 2002 Paul started to record his sophmore album. Stating this one would be far more personal and that he would have much more creative involvement. The album titled Long Time Coming seen a release early 2003, and scored 3 top 20 hits. Later that year Paul released his third album Truth Or Dare scoring his second top 5 single with the title track. Due to poor commercial performance of the album and the following single Paul returned to the studio and recorded new tracks for release the following year. In 2004 a re-packaged version of Truth Or Dare was released with extra tracks, new artwork, and a new title; Control. In the winter of 2005 Paul released his first Greatest Hits collection, along with the single Dance With Me which failed to crack the top 20. After this Paul announced he would take some time out to work on new music and return with a new set when he was ready.

2006 - 2009 That's Me & From Exile[edit | edit source]

Paul's 5th Studio album That's Me was released on March 12th, 2 days before the star's birthday in 2006. The album went Top 10 and includes 5 Top 20 singles including Get Down (If It Hurts Ya). The album was well recieved critically and Paul has said he recognises this as his one of his best peices of work and his first real commercial breakthrough. Following That's Me, Paul returned to the studio and began work on the follow-up. From Exile saw a release in 2009, led by Top 5 single Mathematics, written by then girlfriend Tiara Coles. This album saw Paul stray from the core R&B of previous albums, and take a much poppier route. After the release of From Exile, Paul returned to the studio to work on new music once again, but after many false starts and lack of inspiration he decided to take a break from music altogether.

2015: Asteroids[edit | edit source]

After a 6 year break from the Industry, Paul announced he would be releasing new single Noir, and an album of the same title that summer. The single became Paul's highest charting single until that point and entered the charts at number 2. Fingerprints followed the track, which featured rapper Lil Kickz, and became Paul's first ever number one single. The album's title was changed Asteroids as Paul said that he felt like the album had taken so long to make and included so many different styles and genre's of music that it was like a shower of Asteroids all coming together. The album became Paul's global breakthrough and spawned three number one singles and includes collaberations with Syd Wolfe and Alesha. The album was certified Diamond in 2016.

2016: Ampliphied Heart & Louder[edit | edit source]

After the success of Asteroids Paul continued to record while on tour and throughout 2015. The result became Ampliphied Heart which critics called "A work of Pure Pop Art". The album features includes many styles and genre's such as Pop, Dance, Tropical House, Funk and Hip Hop. It has went on to become Paul's biggest selling album to date, selling over 3 Million copies, and being certified double diamond. 8 Singles were released from the album, including 2 download singles. What's Up, Leave A Man, Flexable & Side Chick / Permanent all reached number one on the UK Top 40. The album includes collaberations with JUSTYCE, Lexi Hastings, and Jetfire. In an interview with Nick Grimshaw Paul said that this album was the best work he'd ever done and is scared to start recording again incase he isn't able to create something as good.
