'Selena Hernandez Lee is the daughter of a Mexican mother and a Filipino father. She shortened her stage name to Selan as a way to make people not think of slain singer Selena. Selan grew up in Los Angeles California and became famous as a contestant on URAPS Idol 7.

Selan brought a Latin feel to the show along with fellow contestants Olivia Dimuzio and Tino. Selan finished in 6th in the competition, however she was signed to Alias Records in 2006.

Selan's debut album was scheduled for a June 2006 release, but Alias was not happy with the final product and Selan went back to the recording studio. She did appear on the Alias 80's compilation doing her rendition of Donna Summer's This Time I Know It's For Real.

Her career took another backwards step personally when her long time boyfriend was killed in a plane crash in October 2006.

Selan planned to make her debut in 2007 with hopefully no more setbacks. She released her debut single "Silver Wings" on May 28, and it exceeded all expectations when it debuted at #5. There was a long delay before the second single, "What Can I Do For You" was released, and as a result, it could only manage to chart at #13. She has not released since.
