Tiger is the debut album from British recording aritst Tiger.

Background[edit | edit source]

Recording for Tiger’s debut album originally began in 2020 after signing his recording contract with IPR.

Initially working on a number of remote sessions with producers due to the coronavirus pandemic, Tiger explored a number of different sounds for what would be his debut LP, experimenting with RnB sounds, then briefly an indie singer/songwriter style, unhappy with the direction of his material, he contacted veteran Swedish producer Erik Lindstrom and flew to his studios in Sweden, the first session resulted in the hit singles ‘Poster Boy’ and ‘OOMF’.

Tiger then worked with upcoming producers Jordan Lee-Rose and Knobfeelers on the tracks ‘Let’s Run Away’, before returning to work with Erik on tracks ‘Friendzone’ and ‘The Ick’. Tiger also completed recording sessions with Christian Stone, which resulted in the tracks ‘Release’ and ‘Only Lovers Left Alive’.

Release and reception[edit | edit source]

Tiger was officially announced on December 17, 2021 through Tiger’s social media channels and an IPR press release sent to media outlets.

The 8-track EP, sometimes referred to by Tiger as a ‘mini-album’ will be initially released to digital and streaming outlets, with physical formats released through Tiger’s official webstore in ‘early 2022’ due to ‘production delays’.

The album was met with mixed reviews from critics who cited the album as having a 'lack of direction' and being a 'collection of songs without any cohesion', many also criticised the decision to release an EP instead of a full album. However, Tiger fans reacted positive to the album and praised the new tracks, in particular ‘The Ick’ with Kode Bleu.

In April 2022, an expanded edition was digitally re-issued with two brand new tracks 'TLDR' and 'Hot & Heavy' which Tiger had recorded with producers Connor Wilder and Naoto, the release was then referred to as an album rather than an EP.
