"Modest Machine" was written by girlASKboy for Amy soon after the group decided to reform for their Christmas 2005 single, "Ruby Slippers". Amy decided to double it up with her remake of Pat Benatar's "Love Is A Battlefield" in order to get the long awaited Alias compilation released.
