Paul Moretti[edit | edit source]

Paul Moretti (born Anthony Paul Moretti III, on 28 May 1986) is an American singer-songwriter, record producer, and fashion model. Born and raised in the Upper East Side, Moretti started his career as a child model at the age of four. He continued as a model through his teenage years, and graduated high school in 2003 at age seventeen. Moretti has launched a career as a recording artist, and will release his debut album Fearless in 2009.

Early life and career beginnings[edit | edit source]

Moretti was born at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, the son of Anthony Paul Moretti II, 54, a model, and Kate Moretti (née Lewis), 49, a fashion designer. He is of Italian, English, Greek, Hungarian, and Ashkenazi Jewish descent, and was raised Catholic. His parents have been married since 1985. He has four sisters and one brother: Aliana (b. August 1989), Melanie (b. June 1992), Jessica (b. July 1995), Emily (b. February 1999), and Ashley (b. April 2002). He was schooled at NYC's very prestigious Dalton School for several years before transferring to the Professional Children's School, which specialized in the performing and visual arts. As a youth, he enrolled in tennis, singing, acting, and piano lessons, but it was his striking looks and poise beyond his years that got him signed to Ford Models at age four.

His maternal aunt sent several photographs she had taken to a number of modeling agencies in New York, with the permission of Moretti's parents. Within a few weeks, he was signed as a child model with Ford Models. Eventually, Moretti was earning $75 an hour while working for Calvin Klein Kids and Abercrombie Kids, and appearing in Sears and Lord & Taylor catalogs.

Career development[edit | edit source]

Following a brief hiatus to focus on his school work, he graduated from the Professional Children's School early at the age of seventeen. Moretti was accepted at New York University's prestigious Tisch School of the Arts, but chose to pursue his career instead. He signed with Wilhelmina Models in 2003, opting to become a full-time model, and was quickly hired for high-profile advertising campaigns, including Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabbana, Abercrombie & Fitch, 2(x)ist, Giorgio Armani, and Ralph Lauren among others.

However, bored with modeling, despite conspicous and continued success, Moretti, aged twenty-one, decided to launch a career in music. He'd taken some music lessons in the past and often dreamed of becoming a pop star. He spent the rest of 2007 and the majority of 2008 working with several songwriters and producers for his debut album, which he titled Fearless. His first single is expected to be released in November 2008.

Personal life[edit | edit source]

Paul Moretti is 1.82m (6'/183 cm), and weighs around 82kg (180 lbs.). He has blue eyes and brown hair. His favorite movies are Working Girl, The Rose, Chicago, and The Devil Wears Prada. He came out as bisexual to his family at the age of eighteen. He enjoys playing tennis, shopping, cycling, playing piano, and watching movies. He is very close with his family, especially his parents and sister Aliana. On 2 June 2004, he married Brazilian model Marie Beatriz Araújo, whom he had met a mere six months earlier. The marriage fizzled fast, and after separating in September 2005, the couple divorced 21 April 2006, citing irreconcilable differences.
