The Empire is an independent record label and publishing imprint founded by Romo in September 2011. Romo founded The Empire following the bankruptcy and closing of her previous label, Saturdays Records.

Romo has said the label is closed to signings and she would only appoint those she deems worthy to her roster. The label's first release was her collaboration with Paulo Araujo, "Rinse, Rinse/Frenemies", in 2011. On October 2, 2020, Romo announced the label's first signing, Luke Ramada. Up until that point, no artists other than Romo had released music on the label. On February 22, 2021, label staff announced its second signing, drag queen sensation Chiara Voxx.

Romo named the closing song on her self-titled 2020 album after the label.
