Uraps Idol[edit | edit source]

Overview[edit | edit source]

Being a hopeful musician from an early age, Rivers hopelessly gave Uraps Idol a try and at first impressed the judges for the wrong reasons - his lack of confidence and good looks. However, public response to Rivers was overwhelming at first, sending him to the Top 12 and the real competition.

Rivers was called a "dark horse" more than once during his Uraps Idol run but he had a hard time midway - after two uninspired perfomances in a row, he had received the least votes on the seventh week of the show. But due to a show twist, vocal coach Arwyn Knight had the option to save a contestant and opted to save Rivers from elimination.

The incident must have worked as a great wake-up call since Rivers outlasted all the other hopefuls to the crown, becoming the first male Idol in five years, with an outstanding 71.4% of the final vote.
