Naomi Jackson (born August 29, 1985) is an English singer who has recorded R&B, pop, and rock hits. Her debut single "I Sat In" established her as one to watch out for in 2005 and she followed it up with hit single after hit single, finally reaching the #1 spot with the huge-selling "Heart Of Mine" in November of that year.

Breakout[edit | edit source]

Naomi quickly became a buzzworthy act upon the release of her debut single, I Sat In, which was met with many positive reviews and ended up charting at #4 in its first week. Naomi quickly followed with the release of "Miss" and the debut album Breakout, which featured contributions from Alicia, Alesha, Ben Parker, Trent Thompson, Sapphire, and Paul. Both, once again, were met with much praise - "Miss" charted at #2, while Breakout reached #3.

Naomi also opened her own club, Club Fortitude, though two months after it opened she burned it to the ground.

Naomi's hit streak continued with the Ben Parker-penned R&B ballad "Stay Home Tonight", as well as collabs with Nathalie Armani ("Rebel") and Taylor Brookes ("Fame"), all of which peaked inside the top 5, at the same time releasing a remix album which was moderately successful. But what Naomi was missing was a number one single, and little did she know she was on her way.

Shook Up[edit | edit source]

Just nine months after the release of her debut album, Naomi was ready to release its follow-up, entitled Shook Up, led by the single "Heart Of Mine". During this time she quickly became eye candy for pop males; she was a contestant on There's Something About Antony where a select group of famous females competed for a date with Antony Jones. At the same time she was rumored to have gotten close to her tour's support act Ross Woods and had been receiving midnight visits from her label boss at the time Justin Case.

Naomi managed to do the double - get #1 on the singles and album charts - with both the single and album, which were both very well-liked from fans.

The second single released from the album was "Never The Bride", which charted at a respectable #3 position despite #1 predictions. Before full-time promotion began, Justin Case, who Naomi had been dating, closed his label Spike to new signees, but allowed her to stay on board. Despite that, she went on to found her own label, Politik, with Sarah Summers. Tabloids reacted by spreading rumors of a split between the couple, but that did not happen.

Naomi quickly moved on to the third single, Stalk, produced by Chris Jones and Taylor Brookes. Despite fans expressing disappointment for not doing enough worldwide live gigs, in addition to a brief public absence, "Stalk" became Naomi's second #1 single. However, the next single "Messed Up/Uncovered", released on a competitive week, broke Naomi's streak of top 5 singles when it debuted at #11 and climbed to #9 the following week.

Conversations & Relations[edit | edit source]

For her third album, Naomi went for a chilled-out rock sound, with Kati on board as a producer and songwriter on the bulk of the tracks. The album, Conversations & Relations, was led by the single "Boulevard", which like many of her previous singles was met with great praise. However, promotion failed to meet expectations and the single debuted at a disappointing #13 position before climbing to #9, matching the peak of her previous single. Conversations & Relations debuted at #5 shortly thereafter.

Naomi would then rebound with the release of the fan favourite "Making Friends With Enemies", with the centerpiece of the promotional campaign being a big New Year's Eve bash. The single became an instant #1 smash when it was released in January 2007, and a re-release of Conversations & Relations became the first new #1 album of 2007.

The present[edit | edit source]

Naomi released the single "The Man You Said You Were", on July 2, 2007, which debuted at #1. A follow-up, "Overestimate Me", and album, Superstar, were both planned but never released. No news regarding new Naomi material has been released since then.
