In It To Win It is the second single by indie-pop singer Olivia Rush, lifted from her debut album 'Night Crawl'.
Background[edit | edit source]
'In It To Win It' is a mid-tempo track, written by Rush and produced by Andre Cassenove of Indigo Peak. Electronic beats are featured around orchestral sections. Thematically, it explores a parasitic relationship which Rush revealed on The BBC's The One Show during an interview on May 6th 2021 to be autobiographical.
Music Video[edit | edit source]
An accompanying video directed by Øystein Aspelund was released via YouTube in April 2021. The high-concept clip is an homage to 1980's horror films and features Rush haunted by a ghostly figure with glowing eyes who follows the singer as she tries to escape a darkened manor house. Shots of the singer silently screaming and ghostly ballet dancers in a great hall are interspersed throughout.
Reception[edit | edit source]
The video was met with critical acclaim for its themes and Aspelund's directorial style. It was streamed on YouTube over 300,000 times in its first 48 hours.
