Bad Son (Hyperion Mix) is a single by Indigo Peak and Neoncity vocalist Lena Moskalyova. It was released as the third official single from Indigo Peak's sixth studio album 'Never Really Gone'.

Background[edit | edit source]

'Bad Son' is a mid-tempo electronic song, that was written and recorded for inclusion on Indigo Peak's sixth studio album 'Never Really Gone'. The 'Hyperion Mix' features an additional solo verse and expanded middle eight by collaborator Lena Moskalyova of Neoncity. It is written by Indigo Peak frontman Yannik Cassenove and both the album version and 'Hyperion Mix' are produced by Andre Cassenove. The 'Hyperion Mix' clocks in at 9 minutes. It also samples the sounds of Saturns radio waves in its instrumentation.

1986 Mix[edit | edit source]

As with previous singles 'Cocaine' and 'Never Really Gone', Indigo Peak produced a '1986 Mix' of 'Bad Son' containing a sample of 'The Pleasure Principle' by Janet Jackson. This mix was released digitally with an additional physical format made available via Indigo Peak's official merch store with three collectable covers. This contained an extended and alternative '1986 Mix'. It was also included on the 'Hyperion Mix' physical format.

Music Video[edit | edit source]

An accompanying music video, created by Øystein Aspelund (who produced Indigo Peak's previous music video for 'Never Really Gone') premiered on March 10th 2021. A continuation from the previous video, it features an alternative 'Hyperion Vox' mix which is mostly an instrumental based around the tracks chorus and middle eight. Shots of remote Norwegian locales are featured interspersed with shots of Indigo Peak and Lena that were added in post production.

Reception[edit | edit source]

The video was well received by critics with Edwin Edgars of NME praising the visuals for the album era as whole.
