Söjourn is the fifth single to be released from British/Irish girlgroup Ace Rejects. It is also the first single to be released from their forthcoming second album. The track was written by American singer Elice Claire, who also wrote Ace Rejects first number one single, Jealous Games. The single reached number one in the UK. It is also the group's second UK number one single, selling more than 100,000 copies in its first week.

Söjourn is the girlgroup's second collaboration with American singer/songwriter Elice Claire. Claire mentioned in many interviews that she would love to write again for Ace Rejects. After the single reached the number one spot in the UK charts, Claire stated that she was proud of the girls, and that she couldn't be anymore happy to have given one of her favorite songs to Ace Rejects.

Critical Reception[edit | edit source]

The song received universal critical acclaim from a wide variety of publications upon release. A writer for the magazine URB noted that the song had everything it needed "just voice and piano, is an actual thing of beauty," and further called it "melodramatic". Will Dean of The Guardian characterizing the song as "gorgeous" and "moving".

Chart performance[edit | edit source]

On the week of 15 January 2012, "Söjourn" entered the UK charts at number one, selling an astonishing 119,106 copies in just one week. The song also proved to be a huge hit on the Urapopstar airplay charts, where in just eight weeks, the song was able to climb to the number one spot. The song remained at the number one spot for three consecutive weeks, as of 14 January 2011. The music video for the song entered the Vevo's music video chart at number one, with more than five million viewers in just one week.
