Someone Else is the first official single from the UK release of Strictly Confidential and the 4th single for United States from Strictly Confidential.

Song Information[edit | edit source]

Someone Else was written by Elice Claire. The song was produced by Danja, Robert Orton and co-produced by Elice Claire. According to Elice, this was one of her favorite tracks from the album, and she believed that this track had potential to become a hit. The song itself is very gloomy and falling more into the rock edge. The song is about a man who constantly cheats on the person who loves him; yet he pretends everything is fine. She however, knows about his affair and awaits for him to come clean and tell her that he's been sleeping with other women. Elice mentioned that the song is not personal, and that it was a fictional character that she created and wrote the song about, however anyone can relate to the song because there are many "scumbags" out there.

Release and Reception[edit | edit source]

The single was premiered in UK radios on 11 December 2008. Many critics praised the song, calling it "one of the best songs of 2008". Media diva Perez Hilton, who hated Elice Claire called the song a masterpiece. The Guardian however slammed the track, calling the song a "wash out version of any Taylor Farley rock song". In United States the song received warm reviews from critics. Times Magazines called the song "pop perfection [...] better than anything any pop/alternative singer has done in that year [2008]". The song was premiered in US radios on 8 December 2008.

Music video[edit | edit source]

Elice in the music video.

Elice Claire's American Label provided a big budget for the music video. It took 3 days to shoot the whole thing. According to Elice, that was one of the best videos she had done yet.
In the beginning of the video Elice is seen at a party, all the sudden she sees her boyfriend cheating on her with another chick. She then sees flashes of him beating her and abusing her. She leaves the party and goes back to her house where she begins going through his stuff. She then meets up with some gang dudes and plan something to scare her boyfriend. She goes to a priest to confess her plans before she actually goes through with it. The priest however is drunk and therefore he agrees with everything she says. At the night, when Elice & the gang goes through with the plan, she asks her boyfriend to go to dinner with her. In their way to the restaurant, she takes her boyfriend to a remote location, with the gang she hired to scare her boyfriend following behind in a different car. Elice puts a black wig on to show her boyfriend that she has become "someone else", just like the other girl he was cheating on her with. As the guys approach the car to beat Elice's boyfriend up, he pulls a gun out and threatens to shoot. All the guys chicken out and run, leaving Elice behind. Elice punches her boyfriend and tries to escape, but he follows her. Elice's boyfriend ambushes her, but she is able to take his gun and shoot him before he shoots her. In the end, Elice is seen at the police station, where she is getting questioned. All the sudden she wakes up from her dreams and leaves her house smiling. The changes and it shows Elice's boyfriend tied up naked in a closet, with the girl he was cheating with inside with him. As Elice leaves, an "open house - for sale" sign is seen in front of the house.
