"The Most Fattening Time Of The Year EP" is an EP of Christmas songs by the cover group It's Not Over Until The Fat Lady Sings. Following a massive promotional campaign, this became the 2005 Christmas #1 single.

Despite its overwhelming popularity, "The Most Fattening Time Of The Year" was not released on any full-length Fat Lady album until 2009, when all three of the EP's tracks were included on Fat Lady's greatest hits collection, All The Fattest: Greatest Hits.

Song information[edit | edit source]

The EP's title track, "The Most Fattening Time Of The Year", is a parody of the Christmas standard "It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year", originally recorded by Bob Rivers for his 1997 collection of Christmas parody songs, More Twisted Christmas. That was originally going to be the only Christmas single the group intended to release, but later on, they came up with more ideas.

The EP also includes "Jingle Bells (Woof Woof Woof)", which is a remake of the public domain Christmas standard "Jingle Bells", but with Fat Lady barking like a dog to the tune of the song, paying homage to the version recorded by Don Charles Presents The Singing Dogs in 1955. The third and final song on the EP is the group's first original song, "You're A Gay One, Jordan Griff", sung to the tune of Thurl Ravenscroft's "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch" from How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

Promotional campaign[edit | edit source]

There were a number of promotional campaigns involved with this single. The most noteworthy of which was Tyler Wilson's, who thought the Fat Lady group's Christmas single should be the Christmas #1 because it was a fun single and full of Christmas spirit. Following Tyler's endorsement of Fat Lady for the Christmas #1, many others followed along and the group's popularity unexpectedly skyrocketed.

Fat Lady also formed an alliance with Annalina and Cosette Cross, who were also were rooting for the Christmas EP to go to #1, joining together to campaign against Kate Hart from ENVY because they all agreed she was a skank.

Nikki, who had the defending Christmas #1 with "Another Day (On Christmas)", tried to repeat its success with her Christmas release "Universal Love". But due to the single's surprising lack of promotion, Fat Lady campaigned for people to not vote for the single just because "she got the Christmas #1 already, so give someone else a chance!" We're certain when she said "someone else" she meant herself.

Brighton was arrested for assaulting an elf to get out of a job as a department store Santa. Fat Lady grew jealous of the growing trend of seeing Tyler Wilson, Jack Stevens, and Max Walker posts on Urapopstar getting loads of replies because they bantered in each other's posts. So Fat Lady demanded a post with 30 replies - and when she got her wish, she had the admins lock the post. What proved to be the oddest campaign for the single, however, was group member Brighton getting a job as a department store Santa. He hated the job so much that he decided to get out of it by assaulting an elf. That got him in jail, and he hated it as well! The long wait for Allyseenah to come and pay his bail money made jail even more excruciating for Brighton. At one point, Allyseenah took home the wrong man - he looked like Brighton, but what differentiated him was a dog tag around his neck that read "bank robber and proud of it". However, Brighton was bailed out just as the promotion for the single was wrapping up.

The cover of the low fat edition parodies the artwork for Alesha & Neyssa's "Close The Door/He's Done It Again" and features Claire Kitten's head superimposed on Alesha's body. The cover of the extra fat edition parodies the artwork for Russ Hooch & Emma Brown's "Body's Best Bet" with Antony Jones's head on Russ's body. Fat Lady's parody artwork was meant to give the impression that Antony and Claire endorsed their single despite the fact they competed with the group for the Christmas #1 with their single "Poisoned Paradise".

Music video[edit | edit source]

The video, which was released as "The Most Fattening Video Of The Year", incorporates all three of the EP's tracks within the storyline, though "The Most Fattening Time Of The Year" is the only song to play in its entirety. It shows Fat Lady at a department store helping Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus give out free toys to children, and spending time at home with her family at Christmas, co-starred Tyler Wilson as Fat Lady's brother Roger, and Patrick and Patricia from Volume Control as Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, respectively. It featured special guest appearances from Annalina, Trish, and Jerry Springer, and cameos from Z-list acts such as Honey, X Factor, Julianne Bechet, Crystal Davis, Fore'Play, Bill Cawlins, MC Den-Den, 3 Wishes, and Kate Lawler.

Due to popular demand, Tyler would reprise his character of Roger in the videos for "It's Raining Men" and "Wannabe".

When the EP held on to #1 the following week, January 1, 2006, it became the first #1 single to be #1 in two different calendar years.
