Bichastasia Mikhaila Ratsvetaeva (born Mikhail Bicha Ratsvetaeva on 9 July, 1992) is a Russian pop singer, mostly known for being a male-to-female transsexual and the younger half-sibling of legendary recording artist Putanovska.

Life and career[edit | edit source]

1992-2010: Early life and Uravision[edit | edit source]

Born in Moscow, Russia to Boris Ratsveteva (Putanovska's father), Mikhail came out as gay when he was 15 years old. His father locked him in a dungeon and performed acts of torture, such as playing Mariah Carey's debut album on repeat. Mikhail finally convinced his father he was heterosexual two years later and he was released. However, Mikhail really felt that he was a transgender woman and decided to leave home to become a superstar. Despite his father's attempts to beat him into submission once again, Mikhail moved to London, England.

Soon after his arrival in London, Mikhail began a strict regime of taking estrogen pills. He underwent various gender transitioning surgeries, such as a breast augmentation, chondrolaryngoplasty (to reduce the size of the Adam's apple), facial feminization, hip and buttock padding, and a vaginoplasty. Now a beautiful, bionic woman, she changed her name to Bichastasia. After performing at tube stations and pubs across the city, Bichastasia was discovered by an A&R and selected as the United Kingdom's representative for Uravision in 2010. Following a number of complications, the competition was cancelled.

2010-present: Big Bad Boss Bicha and Simply B[edit | edit source]

In August 2010, Bichastasia announced plans to release "My Name's Bichastasia" (originally written for Uravision) as her debut single. She recruited pop group The Four Seasons as her backing band. Unexpectedly, the single managed to peak at number nine and spend three weeks in the top ten. Bichastasia released her top three debut album Big Bad Boss Bicha and the top ten second single "BOOM BOOM!" in October. She also appeared as a member of S.A.S.A.S.S. on the "Storm the Castle" EP, alongside Putanovska, Tentrita Troll, and Wolf Wolfe. Bichastasia fired the Four Seasons and replaced them with a new group of backing vocalists, the Bichettes. She released "My Gift", penned by Just Ginger, as her third single in November. It earned Bichastasia her first top five single. She also supported Putanovska, Dakota Rain, and Just Ginger on their respective tours, and appeared on the soundtrack to Rain's musical film Birds of a Feather.

In 2011, Bichastasia reissued her debut album under the title Bigger Badder Bosser Bicher, including the lead single "Messy Little Raindrops From My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy". She also embarked on the Why Pay More? Live tour, which reached a number of ASDA locations across the United Kingdom.

Bichastasia announced the release of her second studio album Simply B in March, to be released the following month. It was accompanied by "Vera Wang", written by Tentrita Troll and Dakota Rain.
