Hailey Klass (Born Hailey Annamarie Longbottom; 18/03/1979) is an American born popstar and actress. She is most known for her singles Don't B J, Hell On Wheels, Good Time Girls, & If Looks Could Thrill

She has released 7 studio albums and 25 singles in a career spanning 9 years. She currently holds the Uraps Record of longest timeframe between number one singles with a 7 year gap between her debut, You Know What To Do in 2003 and the AA-Side single Don't B J/Shoot The Sky in 2010.

Career[edit | edit source]

2002-2003: Rise to fame & Klassified Information[edit | edit source]

In December of 2002 Klass was signed to SoURBAN Music and began a 3 month promotional frenzy after supporting Kym Richardson on her DISTANCE TOUR prior to the launch of her debut single You Know What To Do. She performed on more than 400 radio and TV shows to support the release. Simply put Klass was everywhere. She was named the next big thing by pop God Ryan Simmonds and the hottest bitch on the planet by future collaborative partner Mark B. All the effort worked in her favor when You Know What To Do became a number one smash. Her debut album Klassified Information was released the next week, peaking at number 4 on the charts. Quite a bit of negativity and backlash surrounded the singers second single, Damn Pain, which went against Jay Breen, a number 1 holder as well. The huge chart battle fizzled when neither of them held the number 1 spot, and instead the under dog, Hannah Alethia grabbed the top spot. Amidst claims by other acts that Hailey had gotten a big head and was up her own ass she released her third single, Blink with BFF Rosie Mumba. The song, a Rosie Ribbons cover, entered the charts at a dismal number 8, bringing along rumors that she would soon be dropped by her label. Hailey admitted in an interview with Moodring Fan Monthly that she was advised her next single, an AA-side of That's So Hailey & Breakdown, would be a make-or-break single. If it broke the top 5 she would be good as gold, if not she would be released from her contract. The single entered at a respectable number 4. Her next single, the albums fifth release Glow entered in at number 6.

Following the singles release Klass opted to take a well earned break only to find out when she returned two weeks later that her contract had been revoked due to negative comments she had given in an interview about label owner Paul.

Hailey started her own label after being rejected by every other major label out there. Klassy Records became home to many other acts including BFF's Rosie Mumba & Pepper Bridges, with whom the latter of the two eventually became Vice President. Klass retreated from the spotlight to record her sophmore album, 2004's Fall From Grace.

2004: Fall From Grace & Career decline[edit | edit source]

The first single from the album was the robusk sexy-party stomper I Wanna Fuck which featured R&B star Alicia and Then-Pop-Starlette Katrin Holmlund. The single limped in at a dismal number 6. The album did go top ten however and soon rose into the top 5 after a string of hits including I Just Wanted To Let You Know featuring Mark B (#5), My Love Is For Real (#3), & Sticky Like Honey (#6) which featured R&B girl group Destinys Daughter.

Refusing offers of a vacation by then co-owner of Klassy Records, Pepper Bridges, Hailey chose instead to strike while the iron was hot (but not like that stupid Emily Henning song). She released her third album and first number 1, 2004's No Fear. It featured a collection of personal songs based around the concept of loss and overcoming said loss. It featured many a CHOON, believe you me. The albums first single SYNTH! showed Hailey dabbling in the electro-pop field that she is known for these days. It featured pop icon Lucreacia and went in at number 3. After the becoming a smash hit Hailey once again decided to get high and fuck off, leaving the second and final single release from the album, an AA-side consisting of the albums title track No Fear & the Tasha penned Robot Love which limped into the charts at a disastrous 11, ending her top 10 streak.

Legal trouble soon followed as both Klass and co-owner Pepper Bridges were brought under fire amidst accusations of embezzlement and fraud. Charges were filed and a settlement was reached out of court causing the label to go bankrupt. Klass felt betrayed, humiliated, and exhausted from the whirlwind of the last two years and retreated into solitude.

2006: Attempted comeback[edit | edit source]

In 2006, she attempted a comeback, releasing an album entitled "Late Night Songs", but it resulted in disaster. The first single Four This Morning, reached #14 and the follow-up, a cover of the the Pink Floyd song Wish You Were Here, could only reach #28. Following this, she attempted to start over with a new album that was fully recorded and pressed called Backlashes&Eyelashes but its single, "Word On Public Transit Says You're A Whore", failed to chart. Klass admitted in 2010, again to Moodring Fan Monthly, that it was the most liberating experience of her life, stating "Once you've DNC'd nothing matters. You can get a #35 and still say to yourself, 'meh, at least it charted' and be fine with it." Hailey once again went missing.

2009 - 2010: Comeback Queen and Career peak[edit | edit source]

Her second comeback in 2010 fiercely distanced her trademark RnB sound for a poppier sound, as well as ditching her last name on the releases. Klass released "God Bless Disco" and later on "Running Up That Hill", both singles became Top 5 hits. It wasn't until "Shoot The Sky / Don't BJ" featuring Morris David Cat and Just Ginger that topped the charts in 2010, breaking the record for longest gap between #1 singles - an astonishing 7 years. The new studio album "I Fell In Love With A Boy" also peak at #2, resuming her Top 5 album run nearly six years ago.

Klass then released the single "Hell On Wheels" and another studio album "Flatline" shortly after, both which topped the charts. Klass also won the Best Comeback award at Urapopstar Awards 18. She later released Good Time Girls, If Looks Could Thrill, and A Coral Room, all of which went top 5, garnering her her first diamond certified album.

2011: From national treasure to laughing stock[edit | edit source]

Following the release of A Coral Room Hailey quickly became a laughing stock and the brunt of TV presenter jokes who slated her for covering Kate Bush one too many times. Klass was unapologetic and is still to this day, telling Now News! The News That Is Now! "If I want to record a Kate Bush track I'll fucking do it. It's my career, no one elses. If they don't like it they don't have to buy it." Sadly for her that offer was accepted by the general public when her follow up single, It's More Like A Melody limped in at number 10, barely generating any buzz for the third re-release of her album Flatline. Her next single, a reunion AA-side with Just Ginger proved a success monitarily and charitarily (made that word up right there, do you love it?) by going top 5, however the joke was still on Hailey and many slated her for leaving the promotion up to her counterpart. The single, which reached number 4 was panned by Ginger who called the release a flop. She later added fuel to the already blazing Hailey-Fire by stating that she was no longer relevant... Then she died. Just Ginger died. It's on wikipedia so it must be true. Hailey retreated yet again.

2012: Comeback 3.0[edit | edit source]

Hailey returned onto the scene by entering the Big Brother house. With a career in shambles and a reputation just as bad she was the bookies first bet to be ousted. Luckily for her this wasn't the case. She won the public over in a matter of minutes, quikly becoming the housemates favorite 'go-to girl'. She formed an intense and solid bond with the chihuahua pet of Candi, Babycakes. She won the first task, writing an epic track called Fall In Line for housemate Honey, gaining her imunity to the first eviction. Klass ended up coming in second and released an album of tracks recorded in the hidden studio she found. Nicholas X produced the album, Annamarie which went straight in at number one. The album has been hailed as her finest to date. Hailey came in second on Uraps Big Brother to Iris but was the first to cash in on the fame, releasing a single, Don't Move This Mountain while still inside the house. It went top 10 with NO promotion other than the Big Brother exposure. Since exiting the house she has released the fan favorite Rebound Girl and has managed to patch things up with longtime rival Syd Wolfe. The third single from the album, Love Is A Cannibal, brought her back to form and has given her this biggest hit of her career, spending over ten weeks in the chart. She also received her second Diamond Certification with the re-release of Annamarie+Kate (The original album and a bonus disc of Kate Bush covers. The first 300 copies also came with an exclusive E.P. featuring new material). Hailey then released Dangerous Curves with R&B sex-god Paulo Araujo as a single. It entered the charts at number 3. Her next single, the fan favorite How To Stage A Comeback is released this July. Klass also announced that she will be returning to the big screen later this year starring alongside fellow diva-rival Syd Wolfe. The film is a remake of the eightees classic Working Girl starring Melanie Griffith.

Late 2012: New Start[edit | edit source]

Hailey signed a 2 album contract with Bumblebee Records and plans to release her eight album later this year. Klass has described the venture as "Manic Street Preachers meets Aimee Lyons".
