"Tears In Your Eyes" is the debut single from English band Jetfire. Released as the lead single from their debut self-titled album "Jetfire", the single was released in the United Kingdom on 23 July 2012 and charted at #5 and was platinum certified.

Background[edit | edit source]

"Tears In Your Eyes" was written by the members of Jetfire themselves. According to band member Aaron: "it's a song about a relationship coming to an end because of someone cheating. But it's from the point of view of the person who cheated, as they ask themselves how is it fair that the innocent one is the one who leaves with the tears in their eyes."

Release and reception[edit | edit source]

The song premiered on Friday 29 June on BBC Radio 1. It has recieved a mostly positive response from fans and critics. Digital Spy gave the single four out of five stars and stated "although it's nothing new in terms of musical output, it is a new direction for any male act, showing genuine emotion. Jetfire stand out from the crowd for showing they all own hearts, and are able to sing about their heartbreak experiences. If this is the first musical output from The Uraps Factor, then we can't begin to imagine what other material is going to be produced from acts of the show!"

Music video[edit | edit source]

On July 12, information about the video was revealed to build anticipation for it's release. It was revealed that the video would primarily focus on band member Sean. The video finally premiered on the day of the singles release (July 23).

The video begins, and Sean is walking into his apartment all alone. It is clear he has just broken up with his girlfriend, as once he is in the dark and gloomy looking room, he sits on his bed and looks at his phone. He reads a text from some saved as "the girlfriend" which reads: 'You've hurt me so much, its over', he then goes to the next message which is from someone called 'the other one' and reads 'Last night was great baby'. Sean puts his hands over his face looking stressed. Also throughout the video, several shots are shown of all the members of Jetfire playing their instruments and singing in some sort of warehouse. These shots are shown throughout all of the video.

Suddenly, Sean realises what he's done wrong. As he sings to the song, asking how it's fair he's the one that cheated but it's his girlfriend that's left crying, teardrops begin to drop throughout the room. Suddenly an explosion of water bursts into the room, filling it up at a fierce pace. Finally, the calm after the storm moves on. As the room has been showing the emotions of Sean's girlfriend who was cheated on, the room fills with light and shows that she will get over it and move on. Sean smiles as the room brightens up, but he looks over to the side of the bed she would normally sleep on. The video ends showing Sean grinning to him, knowing she'll be alright in the end, and find someone else.
