Chelsea Flowers is a British singer from Liverpool, who rose to fame as the runner-up of the second series of The Uraps Factor in 2013. Whilst on the show, Chelsea was mentored by popstar Brett Clarkson. Since leaving the show, Chelsea has achieved some success in Europe, in particular Sweden.
2013: The Uraps Factor[edit | edit source]
The second series of The Uraps Factor premiered on 12 January 2013, where the judge's house stage was shown, featuring the final 28 acts. It was shown that Chelsea Flowers had reached this stage in the show, and was one of the final seven girls auditioning in front of the mentor for girls that year, Brett Clarkson and his guest judge Charlee Brookes. Chelsea performed "Already Gone", however she was not chosen by Brett Clarkson to progress through to the final sixteen as one of his four girls, much to the outrage of the media. However, a "wildcard" option became available, where each judge could pick one act from their category who they didn't take through to the live shows, and between these four, the public would vote who they want through as the "wildcard", becoming the seventeenth finalist. Brett chose Chelsea as his wildcard. She was eventually revealed to be the winning wildcard entry, receiving 58.3% of the vote, more than all of the other three wildcard hopefuls put together.
In Week 1, Chelsea performed "Stay" and progressed into the next week, avoiding a double elimination. For Week 2 and Week 3 she performed "Primadonna" and "As I Lay Dying" and continued to progress through the competition. In Week 4 Chelsea performed "Picking Up The Pieces", which saw one of the girls category be eliminated, leaving Chelsea one of only four girls remaining. For Week 5, now part of the final ten, she sang "Iris". In Week 6, Chelsea sang "Don't Let Go (Love)" and once again progressed through. For Week 7, Chelsea sang "Dancing On My Own" where a double elimination took place. The act in 8th/last place was instantly sent home, leaving the acts in 7th and 6th to battle it out in the bottom three. It was revealed that Chelsea Flowers would sing against Raquel Sparks, where voting went to deadlock after judges Kleo and James voted to eliminate Chelsea and Candi and Brett voted to eliminate Raquel. In the bottom two it was revealed that Chelsea had recieved more votes that Raquel, and therefore progressed into the final six, as one of now only three girls left. For Week 8 she sang "Here With Me" and progressed into the final five. Now into Week 9, there was no more double elimination, simply the act with the fewest votes would instantly be eliminated. Chelsea performed "Like A Prayer" and "Welcome To Dystopia", and progressed to the semi-final in Week 10 as part of the final four. For Week 10, Chelsea performed "What You Waiting For?" and "Torn" and once again progressed, this time into the live grand final as part of the final three along with Indigo Indigo and Malaya Gold. On the Saturday night episode of the final, Chelsea performed "Just Like A Prayer" once again, as well as "Waiting" which she performed live on stage with Ruby and the Gems. It was revealed Chelsea had progressed to the final two, along with Malaya Gold. For the Sunday final, Chelsea performed the winner's single "Power To Heal". It was eventually revealed that Malaya was the winner of the second season of The Uraps Factor, with 70.8% of the final vote against Chelsea. Chelsea therefore finished the competition in second place.
2014 - present: Career after The Uraps Factor[edit | edit source]
Since leaving The Uraps Factor, Chelsea began working on her solo career. Despite the majority of acts coming from the show releasing music straight after the show ends in order to capitalise on their high profile, Chelsea has stated the earliest her album can be expected is 2015. In April 2014, Chelsea released a promotional track "Lost" to Swedish iTunes where she had built up a fan base. The track charted at #29 in Sweden purely through word of mouth. In July 2014, Chelsea featured on the track "The Other Woman" for British singer Iris' fourth studio album "The Asylum Pt. 2", making this Chelsea's first impact on her native UK's charts. "The Other Woman" ended up being released as a promotional single on 11 August 2014, and charted at #12 on the download chart. In February 2015, Chelsea released her second promotional single "Adjö" exclusively in Sweden, where it charted at #68. In May 2016, Chelsea released her debut single "Graceful" across Europe. It charted at #24 in Sweden and also made an appearance on the German and Norwegian charts. The single is expected to have a UK release in August 2016.
