Shell Ruin, originally released as Shell Ruin — A Film By Bob Smeaton is a British documentary following singer-songwriter Shell Ruin. First aired by Channel 4 in the United Kingdom on November 21, 2007, the documentary was directed by filmmaker Bob Smeaton, known for creating the 1995 documentary The Beatles Anthology. The documentary follows Ruin as she records her third studio album The Dirty Is Done (2007). Ensemble Entertainment commissioned Smeaton to follow Ruin during the creative process to show people Ruin's credible side as a songwriter and producer. Shell Ruin — A Film By Bob Smeaton was added to Netflix worldwide in 2017 under the shortened title Shell Ruin to make its tenth anniversary.
