The Reckoning is a joint tour by British recording artist Alesha and Russian recording artist Putanovska. The tour, Alesha's fourth world tour (and sixth overall) and Putanovska's fifth, was in support of Last Judgment (2010), Alesha's second greatest hits compilation and seventh studio album, and a Putanovska greatest hits album that never came to fruition. The tour was announced in January 2010 and rehearsals began shortly afterwards. The tour reached stadiums across the globe, starting on April 3, 2010 in Buenos Aires, Argentina and coming to a close on June 11 at London, England's Wembley Stadium.

Ticket sales sold out in record time. Each tour date was met with a great deal of attention in its respective city or country, causing a media frenzy and being billed a "worldwide phenomenon." The record-shattering tour was met with widespread acclaim from contemporary music critics. The Reckoning garnered a total of US$251 million after just 45 shows.

The show was filmed at Foro Sol in Mexico City. The tour was originally broadcast on NBC in the United States and Channel 4 (and later E4) in the United Kingdom; it has since been reaired by Viacom-owned networks MTV, VH1 and Epix. DVD and Blu-ray versions, titled Lífprasir, were released in October 2010.

Background and development[edit | edit source]

The tour was officially announced on January 7, 2010. On Twitter, the official title of the tour was announced. The concert tickets ranged in price from around $45 to more than $350; the average ticket price was $138. Some premium-priced ticket packages ran $600 per person. The first rehearsals began in February 2012 in New York City. The rehearsals on a real stage began March 31, 2012 at the Estadio Antonio Verspucio Liberti in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The triangle-shaped stage of the tour consists of two walkways for Alesha and Putanovska to wade into the crowd and an enclosed area ("The Golden Triangle") where selected fans can get close to the stage. There is also a huge, three-part video screen that promoters have called the largest in the world. Alesha and Putanovska worked with Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci and Jean Paul Gaultier on the tour's costumes. Just Ginger and Butterscotch were handpicked by Alesha and Putanovska as opening acts. The Reckoning included Alesha's first concerts on the African continent when Alesha and Putanovska performed at Port Elizabeth, South Africa
's Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

In May 2011, it was announced that Alesha and Putanovska would be honored with the Top Touring Award at the Billboard Music Awards. The Billboard staff wrote that: "the sold-out 45 date run was 2010's top grossing tour with $251 million" and it is "both pop icons' latest chart landmark in a career full of them." Just Ginger presented the award to Alesha and Putanovska. It was Alesha's second consecutive year receiving the honor.

Broadcasts and recordings[edit | edit source]

The Reckoning was filmed at Foro Sol in Mexico City for television broadcast and home video release. The tour was originally broadcast on NBC in the United States and Channe 4 (and later E4) in the United Kingdom in August 2010. Syndication rights to the programme has been purchased by Viacom; the concert is frequently reaired on Viacom-owned networks such as Epix, MTV, MTV Hits, Palladia, TMF and VH1. A DVD and Blu-ray home release, titled Lífprasir, was released in October 2010. The title ties in with Alesha's documentary film Ragnarök and autobiography Líf.
