Release and reception[edit | edit source]

Digital Spy gave a review of the song, awarding it 3/5 stars, where they stated: "Given how tricky boyband land is to navigate these days, Victory's achievements with their debut single - aren't to be sniffed at. They literally are the new face of boybands in this day and age, stealing the thunder from their only boyband rivals Jetfire and Difused.

As such, we can't blame them for taking the tried-and-tested route of hauling in a rapper to guest on their latest track 'Boombox'. In this case it's the turn of Coral Harris, which makes sense considering she's their somewhat mentor, who over a head-nodding guitars 'n' drums melody sings some of the most simplistic lyrics in pop history: "It makes me go boom, boom, b-boom, boom, boom / Yeah it makes me go boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom." While the lyrics don't blow you away, the track is sweet and catchy, and is going to ensure Victory prove their anything but a one-hit wonder."

Music videos[edit | edit source]

The screen fades in with slight “Boom, boom, b-boom, boom, boom” being heard repeatedly, when the screen fades in fully, we see the Victory logo is standing in 3D letters in an empty warehouse. As the track kicks in, the screen splits into four boxes – each a different room. A thumping boombox takes up the back wall, beating in time to the music. Finally, the boys come into the rooms. When one boy sings, their room is the only one seen on screen.

After the second chorus, we once more go to the warehouse. Where the 3D Victory logo has been replaced with a 3D “Coral”. When Coral begins her rap, we go to her individual room which is identical to the ones of the boys’, but is pale pink instead of blue. The boys are then seen In the empty warehouse, singing and dancing and playing up to the camera until the end of the video.
