The Urapopstar Critics Choice Award, formerly known as Urapopstar Award, is an official accolade by Urapopstar to recognize outstanding achievement in the music industry. The biannual presentation ceremony features performances by prominent artists, and the presentation of those awards that have a more popular interest. The 1st Urapopstar Awards ceremony was held in 2001, generally held biannually through 2015. Twenty years after the first awards, the award was rebooted with the 1st Urapopstar Critics Choice Awards in 2021.

Nomination and voting process[edit | edit source]

Nominations are decided by a panel of varied game players, both older and newer, who submit "pre-nominations" to showrunners. Five acts are nominated in each category. Following this process, the votes are tabulated. The five recordings or recording artists that earn the most pre-nominations become the eventual nominees. After the official nominations are announced, voting is opened to all game players. The artist or recording with the majority vote wins the nomination.

Categories[edit | edit source]

A number of awards are given out but the most notable are Best Album, Best Single, Best Male and Best Female. An award for Best Overall Artist was introduced at Urapopstar Awards 18 but has since been retired. Other awards are given for performance and production in specific genres, as well as for other contributions such as artwork and video. Special awards are given for longer-lasting contributions to the music industry.
